Chapter 7 - Smart Mouse In This New World

I fly around again, and I've calmed down a bit. I'm starting to look at the world again and even though I can only see a small distance away it still is a beautiful place in nature. I've never been somewhere that felt so alive and grand. Maybe it just feels like this because I'm so small.

I'm searching for something else this time, maybe a small mouse or lizard. As I was thinking that I notice a small bug, it's a shiny red beetle, it's about the size of a ladybug, but it's scarlet all over. But the most special part is that the air around it is shimmering as if there's a fire underneath it.

If the previous beetle was an earthbender, would this one be a firebender? I probably shouldn't call them like that, otherwise I'd be a bloodbender, and that would he weird. Oh wait, I can check that, I have heat vision but I never used it before.

Everything around me changes into black, blue, red and white. It really looks like an infrared camera, and I was right, the beetle looks like a second sun. I should be really careful with creatures like that, it feels like it'd incinerate my legs if I touch it. Or maybe even my whole body, that would be bad.

Maybe I'll be able to revive from a single drop of blood someday, that would be a good insurance. I keep well clear of this flame beetle and fly on, seeking a good victim.

As I'm flying around I start feeling like an explorer more and more, I see many fascinating things. I saw a deer that was drinking, but it made the water flow to its mouth instead of bending over. When it ran away it ran on top of the water. But the way it drank water did give me an idea, can't I do the same with blood?

As I was wondering about that I noticed a brown leaf move in a weird way, as I focused on it I noticed it was an animal. It was a mouse, with a leaf shaped tail folded over his body. I check its blind spots and to my surprise they are at its sides, not on top of his tail. That probably means that his tail can see too, or at least sense what's above him.

As it is walking, and I don't know if I can kill it before it can kill me. So I'll stalk it for now and assassinate it when it's resting. I follow the mouse for about a quarter of an hour after which it ran into a hole in a tree. To my surprise the hole disappeared, if I didn't see that the mouse ran in there I would not have seen it.

I focus on my blood control to see if it still is in there, just like how I saw the beetle under the ground. And it worked, I started to see red lines where the hole was before, I focus more and I see a thick line from where the hole was all the way to the body of the mouse. This mouse is brilliant, its tail can change shape and texture to hide itself to be safe.

But animals that need to hide are mostly weak, so it's perfect for me. I check if it has a blind spot and its entire tail is a blind spot, maybe it is because the body is further away but don't know, I don't really care either.

I fly closer and close in to the biggest vine on its tail. After which I stab my claws in it, I fly away in case it will do something that might be bad for me. It is quite a bit bigger than me after all.

I fly up and keep about 4 meter distance, it's well in my dome like this, and I can keep up if it flees.

At first it didn't even move, so it'll keep up the appearance of bark even though it has been stabbed, it might be because my claws are really small and it didn't see it as dangerous, and the venom probably doesn't hurt right away. I hope the venom is potent enough though, the mouse is small, but I think it's twice as big as that beetle. Before I could finish thinking that I see its tail wither away, and I can see the mouse now. The tail looks like a normal tail now, the whole mouse looks normal. Apart from the black lines appearing on its tail, it looks like the only way for it to survive now is by biting off its own tail. But it didn't do that, it's just wriggling in pain and has a scared look in its eyes. After the black lines reached the main body it stopped moving, but it was still panting, within a minute it stopped breathing. A mouse died in 2 minutes, I probably can't kill a human with this yet, but it is a scary weapon nonetheless.

"System, did anything level up?"

[Tiger venom claw: +1]

"Can you notify me automatically after all my enemies or victims died if there was a level up?"

[Yes I can, and I will from now on.]

Maybe the system isn't that bad after all. It has its useful things at least.

I fly to the now dead mouse, and I make an incision on its neck. Black blood starts flowing out, I think that it's poisoned. My blood control starts and I feel how I can control the blood, I let it flow to form a sphere in front of me. It all starts well, I'm still seeking the maximum amount I can control now. But as the sphere grows to about 1cm in diameter I feel that it starts getting harder to fly, it's like I'm actually physically lifting this amount of blood. It feels like it's a little lighter than physically lifting it, but there isn't a big difference. I need to make sure of this though, but I really don't like asking him.
