Chereads / The Mage Poe / Chapter 24 - Monster drops...

Chapter 24 - Monster drops...

Leaving the sleeping or rest zone behind, Poe walked towards the closest monster, as it was so close to the exit of cave 3, it could be called the weakest monsters there were down here.

[Rock golem, lvl 10]

It was a golem made out of rock, but as all golems, it should also have a core somewhere and destroying the core of a golem would normally destroy it.

Poe got ready with his stick and prepared to fight the golem. To start of the fight, Poe fired a mana ball at the rock golem followed by him charging towards the golem.

The golem did not waste it's time either as it moved towards Poe, but sadly it got hit by the mana ball and was put to a halt just as it started to move towards Poe.

Poe took the chance just after the mana ball hit to use his stick with mana enchantment on it to hit the rock golems head.

Well, it did not really do as much damage as the mana ball, it was after all a golem made out of rock and hitting a rock with a stick was never really a good idea…

Poe also saw this and took some distance before starting to throw a barrage of mana balls onto the poor little rock golem.

[Gained 50 EXP + 50 EXP: For killing a higher level enemy]

[*ding* level 6 reached]

[Mana Ball has reached level 4]: You really like to use the basics of magic like mana ball that everyone can use and is walking down this path of mastering the basics, how far will you go?

He only needed 1 EXP so it was not really a surprise that he would reach level 6, Poe put his 5 stat points into intelligence before continuing his monster hunt, he really needed to upgrade his title after all, but that needed a lot of mana, so he would do all he could to get more.

Looking at the small stream in his brain growing a little made him quite happy, so now a little happier than before, Poe made his way towards the next rock golem.

[Rock golem, lvl 11]

The rock golems was not really that hard to take down, he only needed to cast the mana ball spell on a distance and let the magic do all the work.

[Gained 55 EXP + 50 EXP: for killing higher level enemy]

Looking at the rock golem slowly turning into light fragments and disappearing, Poe was a little sad. The first reason, he could not level up his stick mastery. The second reason, he only got normal rocks from killing the rock golems so far.

Ironic how rock golems only gave rocks…

Looking around himself, Poe saw other mages killing off the rock golems with fireballs or even going as far as smashing them to pieces with giant rocks. Having a elemental class was really nice…

Poe got stat points equal to someone who had an uncommon class, which is 12 stat points per level. Hopefully, he would get an epic class or even a legendary one after his class trail was done, but the stat points he lost from level 5 to 15 would still take some time to recover. After all, he only got 12 stat points per level for now and compared to an epic class that gave 16 or more per level, he lost out quite a bit stat points. Poe really hoped it would pay off in the end.

Poe advanced while killing off rock golems and it was not long before he found himself in front of a tunnel leading to another cave most likely. Poe really needed something that were not the constant rock golems; so far, he had only gotten rocks. The only other positive thing that happened was his mana manipulation reaching level 5, but that might also have been a given due to how many mana balls he had used.

As he entered the tunnel towards the next cave, Poe saw other people also entering the cave, but they were mostly in small groups and ignored Poe. Maybe the enemies on the other side of the tunnel would be a little harder than the rock golems?

Thinking this, Poe could not help growing excited while he was walking towards the cave on the other side of the tunnel and what greeted him did indeed not disappoint.

On the other side of the cave what looked like a water cave of some kind showed itself in front of Poe. The cave was not as big and Poe could at least barley see the ending of it. Water was dripping down from the cave walls and there were shallow water all over the cave floor, so only a few spots here and there were land. It could really be called a water zone of some sort.

[Lesser water spirit, lvl 14]

Moreover, to help his theory of this being a water zone of some sort there were even water spirits floating around the place.

Spirits were not like normal monsters. The reason for this being that some of them were intelligent and did not attack humans for no reason. Like the goblins, spirits are also split into two with one part being intelligent and another part not, but only high ranking spirits would have a chance at becoming intelligent, a lesser spirit had no chance what so ever.

Another thing was that spirits took 200 % magic damage, but only 50 % physical damage, a perfect enemy for mages.

Thinking this, Poe attacked the level 14 lesser water spirit with a mana ball. Indeed as he expected the lesser water spirit looked like it took a lot of damage from, so before it managed to collect itself and get ready to attack, Poe finished it off with another few mana balls from a distance.

[Gained 70 EXP + 65 EXP: for killing higher level enemy]

Compared to the rock golem, Poe hoped that he would get something good from this one, but fate was cruel and the thing the lesser water spirit dropped was water…

The water just fell into the shallow water of the cave; Poe really got something even worse than a rock this time.

Looking around, Poe found out that the shallow water on the ground did not come from the water dropping down from the celling of the cave, but the drops of the lesser water spirts…
