Chapter 63 - Receiving a Request for Help

Emile walked slowly since he completed the quest. He didn't have to worry about anything since the time limit was gone. He walked at a casual pace. Emile didn't know the mayor was still worried and had thoughts to travel to guild himself.

Emile arrived in front of the building and entered it. He saw the man, who the system considered being the mayor, walking around.

Emile knew he shouldn't bring up the mayor situation since they would question him on how he figured it out. On second thought, he could use this to show how analytical he was about other people's emotions.

"Mr. mayor the guild leader said that he'll try his best, and he asked you to not expect any results soon," Emile said as he walked up to the mayor.

The mayor didn't catch onto his words and continued to look worried.

"Mr. Mayor. Mr. Mayor!" Emile shouted his name before he received the man's attention.

"Oh, you're back. What the news?" The mayor asked.

"He said that he'll try his best, and he asked you to not expect any quick results," Emile said.

The worry that filled his face increased. He walked up to Emile and requested him to do something.

"Lead me there," The mayor said as soon as he heard that he shouldn't expect quick results.

"All right," Emile didn't want to deny his request.

They walked swiftly to the Alchemist Guild. Since the mayor was here, the lady at the reception desk said nothing to stop them.

Emile leads the way to the elevator. He pressed the button to go the 20th floor when they were both in the elevator. They arrived on the 20th floor. The elevator ride was awkward for Emile. He didn't feel the worry that the mayor felt so he didn't know what to do while waiting.

Emile stood still and did nothing.

On the 20th floor, he saw that the man was resting on a chair.

"Woah, I haven't had these many visitors in a long time," The man said after opening his eyes.

It was rare for someone to visit his office. The only person to visit him was the Vice Guild Leader who gave him the resources to create the potions.

"Nice to meet you." The man greeted the mayor.

"Why did you write a letter if you showed up right away? "The man asked.

"The problem wasn't as serious, so I wanted to send you a letter. I would gain the potion in a few days or weeks depending on how long you took to craft it. But the problem worsened so I need the potion in max 5 days. I didn't edit my letter mention the time limit, so I arrived." The mayor said.

"If I may be rude, who is the potion intended for?" The man asked.

"My son. He got poisoned by Oleander Flowers and I used a rank 1 detoxification potion which didn't work." The mayor said with sorrow.

"His condition worsened in the afternoon. I was writing the letter this morning. I looked for a delivery boy to deliver my letter and couldn't find one. Luckily I found this young gentleman who went out of his way to deliver the letter." The mayor said with gratitude in his voice.

Emile scratched his head when he heard this. He realized that delivering the letter was useless.

"What's his condition?" The man asked. He caught the keywords in his sentence.

"The doctor said he has 1 week to live, and I needed to find a rank two potion to cure him. The doctor recommended the rank 2 detoxification potion or the rank 3 clear potion. I thought that the rank 2 would be easier to find to find, so I requested you for the potion." The mayor said.

"Hmm... they're both difficult to find. I can get the clear potion more easily than the detoxification potion. I can buy the clear potion with 100 gold coins. I'll buy it for you but it will take a decent amount of time to arrive." The man said.

"How long?" The mayor replied. He was getting more and more worried since he couldn't find an easy solution to his problems.

"At minimum a week unless someone goes to the headquarters and comes back swiftly." The man said.

"I can go to the headquarters." Emile grabbed this opportunity to gain a quest.

"That's good. I'll give you my token which will allow you to buy the potion for cheaper. The headquarters sell the potion for 120 gold coins but by using my token you can buy it for 100 gold coins." The man said.

"I don't know how to thank you," The mayor said with delight. Emile felt creeped out by the mayor's stare.

"You don't have to," Emile said. Emile felt excited when he knew the prospects of gaining a quest. Quests were good ways to test out his capabilities and skills.

He gained a quest.

[Quest: Rescuing the Mayor's son]

[Objective: Head to the Alchemist Headquarters and buy the clear potion; return to the mayor]

[Difficulty: B]

[Comment: You'll have to find fast ways to travel there.]

[Progress: Mayor's son is still poisoned]

[Reward:???]

[Time Limit: 1 week]

[Penalty: The hatred of the mayor and -3 levels.]

The penalties were harsh. Emile didn't think it would be too challenging. All he needed to do was get there and come back.

The travel time had to be low if he wanted to complete the mission.

"Where is the headquarters?" Emile asked.

"First you teleport to Sunrise City. Then you walk out of the city. You have to leave via the west gate. Then you continue heading down the dirt path for 1 hour. You'll see trees in the distance. Get off the path and walk towards the closest two trees. Go in between them and face the direction opposite of the path. If you continue walking in that direction you'll see a pond. Next to the pond is a house. The person living in that home will guide you to the Alchemist Headquarters if you tell him the password. The password is QASWQAJ. I'll write it down for you." The man said everything Emile needed to know.

The man wrote all of this information on a piece of paper and gave it to Emile. Emile placed the item in his inventory.

After gaining this information the mayor started speaking.

"Let me get 100 gold coins for you. Also, let me give you 10 silver coins so that you can activate the teleporter." The mayor said as he walked out.

"Come with me," The yelled out to Emile.

Emile followed after bidding a farewell to the guild leader. The mayor leads him back to his tower. They ran there since they didn't have much time to spare.

"I want to thank you for taking up this expedition. I'm really grateful that you're willing to go so far away." The mayor said as they ran towards his building.

The people who saw him felt shocked since they had never seen the mayor do such physical activities. It was a stunning sight.

The mayor didn't care about the opinions of other and continued running. Emile followed him until they reached his building.

They entered his building and headed to the elevator.
