Two days past in a Flash and the Orcs sent a scout to request a surrender but all the scout got was a dagger in the back. In the eyes of the Barbarians, joining the bandits and the Kobolds was not honorable so why would they left that scout go. The Barbarians already prepare mentally to die with the village and they were going to take every single Orc with them if they could.
The dead of the scout could be said to be the beginning of the War and if it was up to Chief Mogho he would have sent his raiders already and would have probably taken a heavy loss. Thanks to Legolas advised, Chief Mogho was to wait for the Kobolds to carry the first wave of assaults before sending in his raiders, that way they could conduct a pincer attack and put a lot more pressure on the village. Once the village was under a lot of stress, the bandits will come in and create chaos making it easier for their elites to kill the leadership of Helgahvall and secure victory, it would be Legolas opportunity as well to get his much awaited revenge for his brother.
As soon as the scout dropped to the ground, the Kobolds started moving. The earth trembled with the charge of 500 Kobolds from Levels 5 all the way to level 9.
Thump.. thump... thump
Rahz palms were sweating as he waited for visual confirmation of the enemy. According to the strategy laid out by the elders, the traps should take care of the first wave and all they had to do was to kill whatever Kobold remained.
The first obstacle for the Kobolds was a long pit with spikes at the bottom that was fairly deep and was design to slow down the charged but to everyone surprise, the Kobolds did not stop marching or try to go around the low level ones, instead whoever was in front was push forward into the gap filling it rather quickly then everyone else just stepped over the Kobold filled gap.
RAWR!!!
The Kobolds continued charging in a frenzy and then as they were getting closer and closer to the village, they saw a bunch of smoke coming from behind trees and other places. There was no way to avoided and the more they ran through the poison field the more gas they would breathe in. There was not a single Kobold that made it through and nobody had to expend a single ounce of energy.
The happiest person out of all of this was Midori who didn't mind having poison on her meat and very quickly melted 20 Kobolds absorbing all the nutrients and energy.
Legolas frown at the fact that nobody from the Barbarian had to fight but they were just cannon fodder and the next wave would definitely get through.
The next wave of Kobolds were only about 200 but all of them were First evolution fighters. There were about 150 close range fighters and 50 Evolve Rock throwers like the ones they fought inside the mine before. All the rock throwers had a basket at their back and it was filled with copper ore.
Compare to the first batch of Kobolds this ones were 10 times worst to deal with. The Melee Kobolds move pretty fast but they also avoided the zones that looked a little weird while they made their way to village. As soon as the Rock Throwers were within range they started shooting copper with extreme precision.
Rahz and the others used trees for cover and waited for the Kobolds to arrived before engaging in battle. Level 10 gave wisdom to the creatures and they would not want to hit their allies, after all even sharks don't eat each other.
The Melee Kobolds arrived and finally the real fight ensue, Rahz was instructed to not use his chaos energy unless he had to, as far as everyone could see he was a regular Berserker. For the level of enemies in front of him, regular was more than enough. Rahz 2h Axe split open anything within weapon's reach filling the air with the stench of blood and signaling everyone in the area that it was not a test and it was time to leave it all in the battlefield.
The engagement on the Kobold side was the signal for the Frostwolfs to join the war. The Raiders were a military unit exclusive to the Orc Clan and it was characterized by a Frostwolf Riding warrior that could created devastating damage to formations thanks to the momentum generated by the Frostwolves gallop.
About 50 Raiders charged in the moment the signal was given and one could hear the thundering march as they pick up speed.
On the side of Helgahvall there were about 20 Guardians blocking the entrance to the village and close to the Shamans there lay another 20 Guardians spread out ready to pick up anybody that went through. The walls of the village were made out of the trunk of trees stack up, but they were no more than 6 ft tall and some of the fast approaching raiders could clear that distance.
At the back of the Guardian formation stood Rhaen looking at the approaching enemy.
"Wait For it ...Wait For it.. NOW!!!"
Without thinking about it, all the guardians at the front picked up the pike laying beside them in the snow covered ground and held it with both hands while putting their foot on it securing it to the ground.
The second and third row used their shields on the row in front of it to help stop the momentum of the incoming Raiders. Rhaen also used the champion ability Lion's Roar, this was a Champion skill that Rhaen had used previously and it increased the defense of the Champion's allies versus physical damage for 30 sec.
The Raiders at the front saw the pikes and tried to stop but were rammed by the ones behind them so on and so forth ending up skewer while others were thrown of their mounts and finish off as soon as they hit the ground. Even though the main charged was stopped, there were some Raiders that managed to divert their wolfs to a sidewall where they used Pulverizing Wave to destroy it.
Once they cross the threshold into the village, they were flank by the Beastlords and their pets and killed on the spot.
The most intelligent of the raiders manage to stop and turn back before getting trap and killed but the ones that were sacrificed achieved their objective to open up a way for the rest of the troops to attack. The gates were opened and Chief Mogho gave the command for a full blown attack.
The Orcs instantly went crazy and rushed to Helgahvall follow by bandits and the group of four leaders. Cerdic cracked his neck and set his sight on Mogho right away. Rhaen quickly gave another order and all the guardians withdrew inside and made a circular formation with the Shamans in the middle.
Wards flew out and the arrows from the rangers quickly came in but the guardians were ready with their shields. Even though they were a lot of people coming in, it was still manageable as they had to hop over the wall or come in through one of the pre designated places opened up by the raiders. Rhaen didn't move from his spot and every time he could, he used his Lions Roar to help the ones around him.
As more and more people went inside the rangers were starting to become a huge problem as they were able to limit the movement of the guardians and some of the Beastlords were starting to get injured. Rhaen saw this happening and took out a small horn and blew it with all his might.
TOOOT! TOOOT!! (think Vikings)
The moment the horned sounded, the Arrows stop coming and Aya and her rogues started attacking the rangers. By the third death Orc, Rex managed to find Aya and stopped her onslaught. The two separated from the war and started going at it.
Back at the West Side, Rahz heard the Horn and knew it was time to cut loose as the War was in full swing. Rahz told Riddick to stop eating his chaos energy but that instead he could eat all the corpses he wanted.
Before Rahz and the others could finished the 200 first evolution Kobolds another wave of cannon fodder came down but this time there were closed to 800 Kobolds from Level 7-9 and right in the middle were 3 level 14's giving orders.
Looking at the incoming wave, Rahz fifth Rune lit up as he lick his lips and said, "Time to level up"
