Chapter 65 - War (part 3)

A Purple flame started to burn the corpses as Rahz activated immolation aura and jump into the the incoming traffic. Anything 10 feet from him melted and all those little bit of energy came rushing in. After immolation was done there was a 10 ft gap around him and he had the space to swing his Axe. At that moment, in came a Cyclone out went body parts. It was like a spinning top that grind ed everything in his path.

All the other Barbarians were perplex at what they were seeing, nobody wanted to move closer to Rahz's area of influence including the Kobolds that started to rush somewhere else. After the cyclone was done Rahz was able to fill in a couple of swings and when his third rune lit up again he manage to immolate again. This cannon fodder was exactly what Rahz need it, they were mosquito meat but if you eat lots you will eventually get full.

Rahz wanted to increase his level during the fight and join his dad in the main stage.

Two hour into the fight Rahz chugged another healing potion and Elune also cast a healing spell to help him recovered. The self inflicted damage was pretty heavy at this point but he had managed to destroy 400 kobolds all by his lonesome. The only other close competitor was the Basilisk that by now was close to 7 ft in length. The others also did they part specially the rogues that were in charge of killing the Rock Throwers to have a fighting chance.

Rahz should have been close to Leveling but he was sharing the Energy Experience with his egg and if one looked closer, adding the energy gathered by burning the corpses and consuming them, Riddick was actually taking close to 75% of all the kills.

It was a good thing that Rahz carried Riddick in a backpack inside his Fur coat because at this point one could see that half the egg was lit up like a Christmas tree and patterns started to appear on the shell that resemble runes very similar to the chaos one that Rahz had all over his body.

Despite all their efforts, the west side was starting to collapse and it was physically impossible to maintain a 100% effort and the copper weapons were already dull from all the hacking into that metallic fur. As soon as they saw yet another wave of about 300 Kobolds from level 10 to level 13, Rahz body tremble. Not only were this Kobolds a lot more powerful looking than anything they fought before there were about 300 more still remaining from before.

On the main stage there were three focal points that everyone seem to stir away from, these were the fights of the big elites. On the left side of the battlefield the two chiefs were engage in mortal combat and anybody close to their fights would suffer the consequences.

Outside Helgavall a more cunning but still ferocious fight was happening between Rex and his frostwolf vs. the Rogue Aya for survival. More than one person had already received a missing arrow for being at the wrong place, at the wrong time and dropped death on the floor cursing their bad luck.

The more brutal and devastating fight was happening right in the middle between Rhaen and Elder wolf and occasionally Etta vs The 4 bandit leaders. The four Leaders only job was to delayed Rhaen so he could not start slaughtering everyone present. Etta had been aiding anybody that need it a spot heal while conserving her Mana the best she could. It was only the second hour into the siege and she need it to be ready with a big spell on the fly.

Rex was having a hard time on his fight, Phantom Steps, one of the sustainable skills of Aya that increased avoidance to a new level made it extremely hard for Rex to lock on too her. With the help of his Frostwolf, every time Aya managed to get close he was able to Disengage and jump backwards to get some distance.

Rex was a very experienced Ranger, he never use skills that need it a long time to launch and he could move and shoot on the fly while Jumping and turning, he had great accuracy and it was truly an art to see him fight.

Aya used the terrain to her advantage to advance close to her opponent while waiting for the opportunity to kill the frostwolf, without the pet she was certain to end Rex's life. The problem Aya faced was that everytime she wanted to attack the pet, Rex will use Radiant Arrow that used the wind element to knock the opponent back. If she switch the target to Rex, it was the frostwolves turn to use a claw attack to give the Ranger a chance to escape. It was splendid teamwork.

Unfortunately for Rex, no fight was played fair and square, it also depended on the tools used and during the whole scrimmage Aya had been using her regular Copper Kukuri and carry the Iron ones around the back of her waist. It was the good old trick of using the same move repeatedly and then suddenly changing. She continued attacking in the same pattern with her copper weapon over and over to create a bit of muscle memory on her opponent.

Aya seemingly attacked Rex in the same way as usual but right before he disengaged backwards she use her Skill Knife Throw which perplex Rex as he thought she was throwing away her weapon. Rex pull his bow back and use the Combat Art Rapid Fire to shoot 4 arrows at extremely fast speed to knock the knives out of their trajectory.

Rex was tense but in his mind it was just a pointless try by Aya that he didn't understand. Even with the other knives around her waist, once she takes them out they would just go back to the status quo and no advantage would be gained. Sadly, Rex couldn't be more wrong. There was a little advantage that he forgot, the previous times he had used Radiant arrow to help his pet but this time the pet was all alone while attacking with his claw.

The claw hit a mirage and that miss activated Lucky Gambit doubling the damage of Aya's next attack. The Iron Kukuri cut across the wolf's belly like knife through butter exposing his insides as it felt to the floor.

Whimper!!

NOOOOO!!

Rex saw the blood cover snow and went into a Rage throwing all kinds of skills at Ayas but she quickly disappeared among the trees. Rex couldn't even help his companion and that filled him with desperation. Rex was looking around trying to find her but it was tough, all of the sudden he felt the hairs on his back stood up and without thinking about it he turned and use Disengaged to move away while he shot a Poison Arrow.

Aya wanted to used Lucky Gambit to finish the fight so she evade it with the closest of margins but was still grace by it creating a minor cut on her skin, the skill still activated and a Double damage Knife throw lodge itself in Rex's Heart.

Rex smiled after seeing the cut on Aya's arm and then looked at the KuKuri stuck on his chest "Iron Weapon, Cheater!!" Rex fell backwards and never got up again.

Aya took out her knife and bowed to her old rival before leaving to help her village some more but just when she was rushing back, the Kukuri on her poison hand dropped to the floor. She looked at the arm that was starting to turn black and smiled bitterly 'Poison Arrow!!, who is the cheater now' aye made a 90 degree turn and went to get assistance.

The chief fight was going nowhere, Cerdic and Mogho both had iron weapons and were the same level which came as a surprise to Mogho that had been working extremely hard to get one up on his counterpart but apparently no matter what he did they were evenly match in every aspect.

Everytime Mogho try to get his Rage bar going it was stop by a bash and the Blessing from Etta reduce the damage from physical attacks as well as it increased stamina providing Cerdic with the ability to use strengthen defense for longer periods of time.

It was pretty hard for Mogho to break Cerdic defense, even the use of Bloodlust was countered by The Combat Art Iron Will that stop damage in exchanged for energy. Even if it was a fight between the two of them it really wasn't. The chief was the most important chess piece in a war and none of the elder will let anything happened to them. Heals and Wards came from time to time and stop critical damage from happening.
