Chereads / Tyrant / Chapter 48 - The Third Path

Chapter 48 - The Third Path

" A chaos Rune?" asked Rhaen with a complex look on his face.

"We should step outside, I don't want to disrupt the young man's rest".

Rhaen called for a waiter to bring some tea to the room next door as he couldn't neglect the elder that came all the way from the temple to check on his son.

"I don't know much about the rune itself but I read once in a book called 'The Shattering a History of the War' that each god granted his Generals a special kind of rune that gave them special types of energy that would boost their abilities and were also proof of their might. The fact that your son got rewarded a task with a chaos rune is both good and bad. The fact that the rune has appeared means that trouble times are coming and the fight for the realm is fast approaching, the good news is that the God of War will groom your son into a very powerful being capable of leading his armies".

"Your son is pretty small and it is best that very few people know about his rune, we are fickle creatures and many heroes had died in the cradle".

Just when the Elder and Rhaen were finishing their talk a knock came at the door.

Rhaen opened the door and was a little taken a back by the person standing there.

"Good evening Mr. Rhaen " said the announcer of the Underground Arena. Seeing who it was made Rhaen smile, he had taken close to 1200 gold coins from them and with all the other people that placed a bet on Rahz on the second night it probably left a bad taste in their mouth.

"I don't want to disturb you when you have guest but I would be brief. We would like to offer Rahz the chance to fight to be king of the Level 10 division and proof he is the best."

" Not interested"

" Wa... Wait Mr. Rhaen don't be so quick to reject, the Leadership of the arena is prepare to offer Kobold Man the same benefits as a second evolution fighter and you can request anything as a reward for the fight".

"You haven't tell me who he has to fight?"

"Since is a championship fight he will have to fight a Level 11 fighter but judging by Kobold Man's power it should be like taking candy from a baby"

Rhaen paused for a second looking like he was pondering the deal but he was just thinking about what he could get as a reward. After about 5 minutes he snap his fingers and said " OK!!! He would do the fight but the reward needs to be deliver here in advanced. There is a Dark Elf Girl that is being auction tomorrow by the Best Goods Company. You bring her here and the fight is on for the day after tomorrow, I'll even be kind enough to give you some help"

Rhaen and the announcer shook hands and the elder served as a witness to the deal. The announcer was very clear on who the elder was and didn't dare to try any funny business on the terms of the contract.

After the announcer left, the elder was concerned about the fight as he had not seen Rahz fight in the arena.

"Are you sure he will be alright?"

"With your help, there would be no problem whatsoever."

The elder was oblivious to what Rhaen meant but then he realized that since Rahz had finished his transformation, it was time to do the evolution ceremony.

Rahz slept until 8 PM at night and woke up with stomach pains like he had being in a desert island with no food for a week. When he walked outside his room, he looked completely different from before, his body was covered with dry up blood, microscopic organ cells and the only thing visible were a pair of Dark Red eyes that shone from time to time.

Rahz saw one of the trainers and asked for his dad and found out that his dad had move to another room as the stench from the puke was unbearable. Rahz made his way to his fathers room and upon opening his room saw his dad polishing his shield and sword.

"How long did I sleep for?"

"Just 10 hours, are you hungry?"

"Starving"

"Go clean yourself and ill meet you down stairs for some grub"

Rahz nodded and went to the bathtub unaware of the changes to his body, all he remember was the excruciating pain he felt. Rahz finished cleaning himself up and when he walk down stairs to meet his father he noticed his biggest wish had come true. He was as tall as the elders and that made him taller than his classmates.

"No way!!! Did I become a full blooded Barbarian?" That thought went out the window as soon as he touch his pointy ears. Rahz live in a Barbarian society that thought he look a little feminine so he also yearn for a more rough look in order to fit in.

Despite all his physical changes Rahz was still Rahz and it was his most endearing quality. The moment he came down the stairs and saw the table full of food he smiled and said " We are going to need a few more rounds just like this one"

Rhaen smiled at his son and order the kitchen to keep them coming.

As Rahz devoured the food on the table, Rhaen explained the events that happened during the day, the fact that the elder priest was going to conduct his evolution ceremony the following morning, that the Underground Arena was proposing a fight and that the prize was the promise to deliver the dark elf girl.

Rahz listened attentively to his father about everything that was to happened the next day and the only thing he felt excited about was his ceremony. It was a very exciting period for Rahz as he was almost a Berserker, every time he thought about it his eyes became completely Dark Red and his blood boiled.

Rahz adjusted his mental state during the night and the next day the group left early in the morning towards the Temple of the gods where the ceremony was to take place. Rahz was introduced to the elder which was truly taken aback by Rahz unpretentious attitude.

The ceremony started and the moment Rahz's blood hit the altar the old familiar pillar of light shone over Rahz and the voice of god Fadall was heard directly on his consciousness.

"So you managed to complete the task on the higher difficulty... very good!! you had a little help from your Axe but a tool is nothing without a capable wielder. The Road of the Warrior most people know is usually divided into two common pathways, one is the defensive warrior that combines durable armor and defensive skills to help their allies stay safe and the second is the Berseker that stands in the front lines unleashing their rage onto their foes with unbridled aggression. However, there are two additional hybrid classes such as the ShadowKnight and the Paladin that are acquired with a little more effort from the aspiring warriors that chose the guardian path".

"The Berserkers also have a hybrid class that is not commonly seen, as the majority of the races don't possessed the chaos energy that I have granted through the rune. The name of the class is the Dreadnought and they are highly respected among the demon race "

"Is it stronger than the Berserker"

" There is no such thing as stronger or weaker, any class can defeat another depending on the skill of the individual. The Dreadnought would utilized the chaos power to the fullest by sacrificing some of the defensive combat arts the Berserker class offers to its practitioners. In other words, the Dreadnought is the offensive specialization of a Berserker."

Rahz was not too kin on defense and it was still the Berserker path that he dreamed off, without thinking it too long Rahz made up his mind and chose the Dreadnought class.

"You truly didn't disappoint me!!! Dreadnought is truly the best path for you. However, I can only grant you the class and skills until your second evolution. If you want to continue along the class, you must travel to the demon land and find the temple of the Dreadnought to perform the second evolution".

The moment the voice disappeared Rahz body rose into the air and the divine light intensified blinding everyone present. Nobody could see the process but they could hear the cracking of bones and a lot of sizzling like when bulls are getting branded.

When the light disappeared everyone turned to look at the star of the show to see the changes but what they saw left them speechless.

They really couldn't keep up with the changes anymore, two nights before Rahz was considerably shorter than them, and if you looked at muscle mass the Barbarians would be a heavyweight fighter while Rahz was a welterweight. Now it was completely different, Rahz was as tall as they were and the muscle mass had gone up to a light Heavyweight.

The rune on his back had decreased in size and there were now 5 more chaos runes, one on each Deltoid and one on each external oblique. All the runes radiated chaos energy giving Rahz a Dark Red glow.
