It was the moment that Rahz had been waiting for, Energy from the corpse
divided into 6 parts and shot towards each and every one of the Task Team
members that had participated in the encounter equally.
This time there were 4 less people in the team and the opponent was 2
Levels higher than the previous Elite they had encountered.
Blaire that was at Level 8 rushed to Level 9 in one fell swoop and even
Bhirl was only 30% away from the peak of Level 9 and the opportunity of
removing the first shackles of the mortal realm was just around the corner.
Rahz rune of awakening was full to the brim and if he were to take his
armor off it would be radiating high levels of energy at 10 second intervals.
It was very clear that the Rune itself wanted to transform into a more
powerful version of itself but the laws set up by the Realms prevented it
from doing so.
The reason why warriors need it to complete a task in order to evolve had
long been forgotten and the creatures in the realm of Elysian stopped
worrying about those things in the current era of peace. The Shattering
had now become a myth passed through bard songs or found in the
deepest corners of a library that nobody looked at anymore.
The history of the realm was starting to change and the people that knew
the answer to that question were starting to pay attention to exceptional up
and coming fighters.
Rahz was in the clouds at that moment, he had been waiting for the
opportunity to level up and he didn't think that he would be able to get the
task before his trip to Willowdale town. He literally wanted to pack up and
head back home to carry the ceremony.
Congrats Rahz!!
Congrats Rahz!!
Bhirl was not a chatty person so he gave Rahz the thumbs up.
Rahz smiled and took two bows in front of everyone making everyone
regret their decision of congratulating him and inflating his ego even more.
"Let's finish this task quickly, I can't wait to go home"
The rest of the rooms were pretty easy to clean and as per the instructions
of the elders, Aya disposed of the Elite in the 20th room. It was a real treat
to see a level 18 Rogue fighting a Level 15 Elite Kobold which in the eyes
of the team was an impossible task for a Barbarian to fight 1 on 1. The two
Boss level opponents they defeated left a big impression in their minds and
it made it look like nobody in their village was capable of 1v1 creatures
such as the Elite Kobolds. To their surprise it was the opposite, Scout
Leader Aya had to reduce her speed several notches for the team to see
her movements.
"Woah!! Ooh!! Amazing!!"
It was like a UFC fanatic seeing their favorite fighter in the ring displaying
their skills just for their eyes, It was an indescribable feeling. At the end of
the exhibition there was no blood spilled in the room. Aya used the Elite to
send a message to the Kobold King that Helgahvall would be taking over
the territory made up by the 20 rooms.
Even though the Kobold did not understand the spoken word, after a few
explanations and sign language he got the message that Aya wanted tell
his king. The first evolution was also a milestone for creatures such as
Kobolds, they stop acting only on instinct and gained intelligence and a little
bit of wisdom. If there were some that manage to reach level 30th and up,
they would be able to communicate in the universal language and there
were some capable of designing weapons or even enchanting powerful
runes from systems of magic not understood by the human magi.
The expedition of the mine had been an overall success with many gains
by the members. The last room was filled with quite a few pieces of Iron
Ore that the village was suppose to pay at a premium price or so they
thought. There was nobody that really knew the market price of a piece of
iron and when the team members saw the elders paying each piece at
double the price of a copper piece they cheered.
Despite not having contribute to much during the fights the people that
were injured at the beginning still got an equal amount of money as it was
agreed during their meeting. Rahz still managed to get some cash even
though he exchanged that weird looking tooth for his share of the profit of
the first 6th rooms, and in his eyes he got a steal as the real cash came
from the last 5 rooms with the iron ore. Since he couldn't wear the Iron Ore
necklace, the deep violet tooth was a great substitute.
When Rahz got home his parents were in the middle of dinner and the
smell of the wonderful home cooking made his stomach growl. As soon as
he came into the house he made a beeline towards the pots and got
himself a nice bowl of beef stew.
"Sooo... How did it go in the mines? were you able to complete the task ?"
Y E SH And Y E SH
With a mouth full of food, Rahz communicated with his family and told them
all about his experienced and the fact that he was now ready for his
evolution ceremony and how Berzerker was his calling.
Rhaen and Etta congratulated their son and told him to rest for a couple of
days and recuperated to pick condition as listening to the oracle of a god
was very draining. If Rahz couldn't endure the process, there was a
chance to disrespect the god and affect his advancement to the next level.
Even though Rahz didn't say anything about his dislocated shoulder, he
couldn't evade the discerning eyes of a Templar, with a simple wave of her
hand Etta cast a quick healing spell to help Rahz recuperated and then
send him to bed.
The following morning Rahz woke up and did maintenance on his 2
Handed Axe instead of doing his morning exercises. If he couldn't endure
the ceremony because his shoulder was bothering him it would be
devastating for him.
During breakfast he showed his dad the tooth he had acquired from the
Rock Thrower and asked his dad to created a chain made out of copper as
a present for reaching the energy necessary for evolution.
Rhaen took the tooth and inspected it but like the rest of the people that
had seen it, he was not aware of where it actually came from. Rahz's
father was actually very interested in the tooth and wanted to do something
nice for his son so he didn't mind taking on the job.
It was very Rare to see a material that Rhaen had no seeing before and
especially one that was so peculiar. Rhaen made the chain for it and when
he tried to perforate a hole to pass the chain none of the materials he had
at hand could do it, they couldn't even leave a scratch on it.
The only way to make a neck piece was to encase the whole tooth into a
receptacle made out of copper or to melt the whole thing and create
something out of it but Rhaen was not a jeweler so he decided to encase it.
When the neck piece was completed the tooth was cover by a thin sheet of
copper ribbons that wrap around the surface making it look like it had
copper stripes. The chain was then attached to the ribbons those solving
the problem generated by the hardness of the tooth.
Rahz was pretty stoked about his new necklace and after a couple of days
he was back to peak condition to start the ceremony.
The ceremony was preceded by the first elder and it was conducted in the
main altar of the village. The evolution task was not as flashy as the
awakening ceremony so there was not much people around observing it.
The priest started reciting a prayer to the gods and when he was finished
he prompted Rahz to place a drop of his blood on the altar. Through the
blood the God of War would inspect his accomplishments those far and
select a task and reward accordingly.
Each God value different things but if you followed the God of Valor for
example but acted like a coward in different situations, the God might not
want you as a follower or in order to see that you have what it takes to be in
that particular Gods army they would create an extremely difficult task filled
with challenges that would test your 'Valor'.
The moment the drop of blood hit the altar, it was wrapped in a dark red
light and stayed floating above it while it was being evaluated by Fadall.
After about a minute had passed the drop vanished and a soft light
descended on Rahz delivering the Oracle.
