Chapter 10 - Village Troubles (part 1)

Crisis Avoided!!

The 6 ft wolf stood up and started to slowly walk towards Rahz. He felt that he had aged 20 years just now. As the Wolf got closer to Rahz, it started to take a different form. The hair quickly resided and it started to walk in two legs instead of 4. By the end of the transformation and elder looking man appear besides the corpse of the bear.

Totemic Incarnation was the flagship spell of the shaman community. It was usually acquired when the Shaman manage to reach level 10 and finally evolved into a Shaman.

The totem of choice provided a lot of information about the strengths of the Shaman. A shaman with a Totemic Incarnation of Ursine the bear spirit will be able to shape-shift into a bear gaining increase wisdom, spell resistance, and toughness. They usually prefer close combat and are very resilient just like a guardian. In the case of the elder, He opted for the Totemic incarnation of Fenrir the wolf spirit. The elder was able to shape-shift into a wolf increasing wisdom, spell resistance and agility.

The elder finished checking the corpse of the bear and a deep frown appear on his face. This was the 40 mile perimeter and the probability of a Level 7 bear appearing was extremely unlikely.

"This time we were lucky."

Now that the situation was under control, it was time to check on the other children under his care. The elder quickly burned some moss and added a red color powder. Immediately red smoke rose above the trees signaling the village that there was a need for assistance.

A few minutes later, 2 young scouts appear at the scene and awaited instructions.

"Take Rahz and the bear back to the village and notify the supreme Elder. Let him know that Rahz is not in danger and that I will explained what happened after checking on the other kids."

The elder quickly shapeshifited once more and quickly made his way towards Bhirl. Bhirl chose to go to the Northeast side of the perimeter in order to have an easier time finding creatures. There were 4 other warriors in the east side of the village and if he took the path due east he would need to split it with at least one more person.

Bhirl had a very easy time so far. It was very easy for him to slay creatures thanks to the Humongous tower shield. So far the majority of the creatures he encounter were Level 4 Artic Bears and other Level 2s that would quickly run away upon sensing his presence.

Despite the weight he was carrying, Bhirl move pretty fast. It was the second day of the test and he had already arrive at the 50 mile line. Bhirl was so close to reaching Level 5 that if he were to just kill a level 3 creature he would make a breakthrough. Since there was still a whole day left for hunting, Bhirl decided to take a break and set up camp.

"I wonder how Rahz is doing"

Perhaps only bhirl regarded rahz highly. It was a feeling he couldn't explain. Something kept telling him that he was worth developing a friendship with.

Woosh! woosh!

Bhirl look in the direction of the sound and found a very peculiar wolf staring at him.

After a couple of seconds Bhirl bow his head to the wolf and asked, " Esteemed elder how can I be of assistance" .

With a relief expression the wolf resume his human form and spoke " I never thought you could spot me so quickly. The chief is very lucky to have such a son".

"Elder flatters me too much, I am still very inexperience. It is very unlikely for the elder to break protocol just to talk with me."

"There has been an incident. A level 7 bear attacked Rahz within the test boundaries. I was worried that more high level beast came in so I hurried over".

"Is Rahz ok?"

"He will be alright." Remembering the scene of the frenzied Rahz the elder couldn't help but shiver. With Rahz out of commission for a while there were only 3 more trainees in the zone. On the way to Bhirl's location, the elder had to pass close to the other children. He quickly checked on them and determined that there was no danger from external factors to them. He then continued onwards towards Bhirl's area.

Throughout this whole experience, the elder felt that something was not quite right. " We will continue with the test for now. Do not try to be a hero, the level gap after level 5 is not something you can overcome easily. Use this Whistle if you encounter any trouble."

The elder quickly Shape-shifted back into a wolf and disappeared from sight. Bhirl took note of the incident and continued to prepare his camp.

Back at the village, two agile teenagers arrived at the hut belonging to the Elder in charge of the test. One was carrying a child and a severed head, and the other was struggling to carry the headless body of a giant bear.

"There has been an incident on the east side of the Village. Elder Wolf asked us to bring Rahz back as well as this corpse. He told us Rahz was not in any life threatning danger but that he wanted to check on the other participants before coming to report."

Listening to the report of the two, the elder couldn't help but furrowed his eyebrows. Thinking for a few seconds he finally made a decision.

" Go to the blacksmith and tell master Rhaen that there has been an incident involving Rahz and to please come to my hut. Then go tell Rahz's mother that we need her help. Please be extremely polite and under no circumstance tell her that Rahz has been hurt."

Sigh....

'I hope elder wolf comes back quickly before this gets out of hand'.

At the entrance of the village's blacksmith, two teenagers arrived with worried expressions asking for Rah's father.

"We have an urgent message for Master Rhaen."

One of the apprentice received the two scouts and replied, "Master Rhaen is busy finishing up an important order and is not seeing any visitors, you should comeback another time"

"This is a message from Elder Bear and it concerns his son I think you better let him know, we have orders to not leave until we speak to him".

Seeing the solemn expressions on their faces, the apprentice had no other choice but to disturb his master.

"Sorry for the disturbance master, there is a messenger from the Supreme Elder and it is something related to your son."

Rhaen looked at this assistant and went out of the forge room to meet with the two messengers.

"What Happened?"

The messengers passed on the message from the elder and Rhaen quickly understood the problem. Rhaen was a pure blood Barbarian and to him as long as his son was not dead then it was a learning experience that will help his son grow stronger. Rhaen also understood that for the elder to need Etta's help in order to heal Rahz, the wounds must be pretty serious.

Rhaen left the blacksmith in the hands of his assistant and quickly made his way to the house of the Supreme Elder.

When Rhaen walked inside the hut, the first thing that called his attention was the severed head of a giant bear. More specifically the familiar handle of a knife sticking out one of the eyes. After looking at the headless body of the bear, his eyes stop on the boy lying on top of the bed. Even though his wounds were healing he could still see the severity of the fight.

"Thank you for coming master Rhaen. I can Assure you that Rahz will be OK . I am still waiting for Elder wolf to give me his report but we need the help of your esteemed wife to heal the damage to the cells. I'm afraid that only the divine radiance of a second evolution cleric (Templar) can restore them to normal. I hope Master Rhaen can help us persuade his esteemed wife so that the village can avoid a disaster".

"I understand Supreme Elder I will do my b...."

Just when Rhaen was about to respond to the Elder's request, footsteps could be heard outside the hut.

RAHZ!!!!
