Chapter 8 - Finally, a Bed.

'Of course I would get bloody, public, speaking!' Renard was truly enraged, he just wanted to become powerful, 'Why must YOU constantly screw with me?!' Renard tried calming down, needing to get away from Kyle's shop and find somewhere to sleep.

As he calmed down, fatigue started to set in. His mind started to falter as it craved for sleep. The beautiful oasis of dreams, that was a place that the System couldn't meddle with!

Renard looked around and decided to try his luck with the East Road. If he had chosen correctly, then down the road, he would be able to find a tavern or just a place that would let him stay the night! With no hesitation, Renard walked the streets, not even attempting to glance, he didn't want to risk seeing Kyle behind him.

It was easy to locate the taverns in a place like this, they would be the only place with their lights still up. At this time most people had gone to sleep, but the hard workers would always stay up and drink their worries away.

Unluckily for Renard, it seemed as though there was only one tavern on this road. However, it seemed like quite large, so they should provide lodging. The tavern was called 'The Misty Tree' it had a big sign board outside with a big tree depicted on it.

Renard pushed on the doors and stepped in to the room. On the left was a large bar that span the entire side of the building, the bar tender was talking to two patrons who had a drink in their hands. There were five or six tables littered around the room, with varying amount of wooden chairs at each.

At the back wall was a set of stairs going upwards, a sign hung next to is saying lodging. Renard was happy, he finally knew a bed was in sight. He stumbled towards the counter, the bar keep noticed this and walked over to him.

"What can I get for ya? You here for a drink or a room?" The bar keep was tall and had thick arms, he was probably a hunter by day and ran the bar at night. He was a fairly simple man as he got straight to the point without any blabber.

Renard quickly replied, not wanting to waste the man's time, "I am looking for a room I can use for a few days. How much?"

"5 Silver a night for the regular or 8 Silver for the large one. The large one has a bigger bed and is more comfortable. Which do you want and how long are you staying?" He was straight to the point, Renard was relieved at this as all the people he had met recently had been far too confusing.

"I will take the 8 silver one, I plan to use the room for six days. Here, I require 2 silver change." He handed over 5 gold coins. In this world, 10 bronze coins was equivalent to 1 silver, 10 sliver to 1 gold and 100 gold to 1 platinum.

The bar keeps eyes seemed to glow a little, 'I didn't expect that to work, haha, that room is barely worth 3 silver a night.'

He then handed over 2 silver to Renard and said, "Amanda will show you to your room. She has the key, take it from her when you get there and give it back to her when you leave."

A girl stepped out from behind the end of the bar, she was waiting at the bottom of the stairs. The bar keep saw the girl step out and returned to his conversation with the other patrons.

Renard felt a slight singe in his heart, he had a slight fear towards women after the Lucy incident. However, knowing that a nice bed awaited him, his building fatigue finally forced him forward. As he reached the stairs he spoke out to Amanda. "Please take me to my room, I just want to sleep."

Amanda was somewhat shocked, she had seen how the rich people acted when they saw her. She had been violated by eyes many times, but she was used to it. It was part of the reason the bar keep kept her on. She was shocked as this young man didn't even try anything, he just said he wanted to sleep.

"Please follow me, I will show you to your room." Amanda said.

After walking up the stair Renard was ready to drop to the floor. 'Who knew that stairs would drain the last of my energy.' Thankfully, the first door they came across was his room.

"This is your key, if you need anything just come and find me downstairs. Please don't lose the key or you will have to pay for a replacement." Amanda was well trained and spoke in a chirpy tone despite Renard's lifeless eyes.

As Amanda started to leave Renard, who was not thinking straight at all, decided to ask a question. "Are you a trap?"

"I'm sorry, I don't think I understand. Aren't traps meant to capture animals?" Amanda was confused, but the priority was the customer, she didn't want to make him mad so she answered as calmly as she could.

"This is important, I need to know!" Renard was getting frustrated, he moved his hand and patted Amanda's crotch.

"I'm safe, not a trap. Goodnight Amanda." Renard closed the door and jumped onto the bed, he was so tired he fell asleep straight away.

Amanda stood there in shock. This wasn't the worst thing that had happened to her here. It was just so sudden, 'If he wanted to make a move on me, he would have just dragged me into the room. Why is that man such a weirdo....'

Renard was having happy dreams, he danced in a field and was singing, "I am safe, she isn't a trap. Trap's don't exist in this world. Lucy didn't trick me. YAY" However, these were all just assumptions made by Renard to make himself feel better. Realistically, he had no idea.
