Renard glanced over to the herd of boars grazing in the field. He no longer felt he needed to isolate them. If they attacked in a group he would have already been killed. Renard however, had a slightly more arrogant thought. 'If they want to attack me in a herd they can, I will destroy them all. Hahaha.' The event with the boar had made him extremely arrogant.
Now that Renard had used his inventory to store the corpse, he felt like he should investigate the functions of it. 'Open inventory' he commanded, in an attempt that it would open the inventory. To his delight, a screen appeared in front of his hand. That screen had a single square box on it, inside of that box was the corpse of the boar he had just killed. He tapped on the square and a list of options appeared.
[Withdraw]
[Move]
[Time Lock: Off]
[Separate]
[Locked]
[Locked]
[Destroy]
As Renard glanced through the list, he was unsure what the 'Time Lock' option did. He tried to turn it on.
[Time Lock has been activated for inventory slot #1. The passing of time can no longer effect this item.]
'That's interesting. Does that mean I will be able to increase the speed that time flows on stored objects in the future? Nevertheless, this can be quite useful if I need to store items that need to be in a certain state. This is especially useful for corpses, it will allow them to stay fresh and prevent rotting.' Renard had a few thoughts about the option.
He took note of the 'Separate' option. 'This must be used to split materials up, if I used this on the boar, it should give me the hide. This makes it a lot easier for me, I only have to focus on killing four more boars now and not skinning them.'
He turned to face one of the boars grazing in the field. He dashed at it, his dagger was ready to strike. At this moment, he wasn't concerned with concealing his presence anymore.
Boars are slow creatures. Renard's action of moving quickly towards the boar had given it no time to react, it was hit by surprise.
[You have hit a Greater Boar. 'Almighty Power' has been activated dealing the maximum amount of damage. You have dealt the enemy 15 damage! 15 Health Remaining.]
"Ha, you weakling!" Renard shouted as blood violently splashed out of the boar's side. His stab had penetrated deep into the boar's insides.
At this moment, the boar had squealed out in pain. This scream caused the other boars to run away in separate directions due to fright.
[Target has been stunned for 5 seconds.]
[You have hit the target. 'Almighty Power' has been activated dealing the maximum amount of damage. You have dealt the enemy 15 damage! Target Killed.]
[Congratulations! You have defeated the level 2 "Greater Boar". You have gained 5 XP!]
Seeing the boar's start to scatter had caused Renard to boil with anger. He had quickly slashed again at the boar, killing it and then he stored its corpse in his inventory. He now realised that it didn't matter how he attacked, 'Almighty Power' would always activate, dealing maximum damage.
The boar that was closest to Renard had ran further south. He started to chase after it. 'This is going to be a long day.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun started to dip under the horizon, light danced along the ground as darkness grew. A worn body was casting a dim shadow on the light that was still available. The body was slowly making its way towards the southern entrance of Littlefeather.
The town guards didn't bother to disturb the weary figure, it was clearly a labourer that had been working out in the fields all day. They even felt a sense of respect for the man, he had worked so hard while caring for the town's future food supply.
The weary man was muttering something his breath, one of the more nosy guards had focused on what he was saying.
The guard heard a voice grumble over and over. "Since when can boars run so fast? I have wasted my whole day chasing bloody boars." The guard couldn't stop himself from laughing. Luckily, the weary man didn't notice.
Renard had spent the entire day collecting three more boars. The herd of boars had managed to run quite far away, he hadn't expected this. Renard had managed to deal with the one he chased after quite easily. However, he had spent the rest of his day running around in search of the others. Luckily, he managed to find three more before the sun started to set.
Currently, he was on his way to Kyle's shop. Renard had been described as a labourer by the guards. Renard knew he had to hand in Kyle's quest before night, as he wouldn't be able to buy a room to sleep in. He was currently wandering towards the centre of the town, aiming for the stone built shops. He hoped Kyle hadn't headed home for the night.
In the exact centre of town was a fountain, roads led north, south, east and west from it. Each road had an entrance to Littlefeather along them, except the north which led to the lord's manor. Along the roads were a total of twelve stone built shops. There were four corner shops and eight shops that faced their respective roads.
As Renard glanced at the signs outside each shop, he was shocked. The shop that had Kyle's name on was the most grandiose here, it also still had at least six customers in there, despite the time. On the metal signboard attached to the side of the shop, written in gold plated letters was 'Kyle's Trade Union'.
As he entered the shop, an attendant walked up to him and asked. "Hello, my name is Robert. How may I help you?"
"Ummm, I'm Renard. I think I am in the wrong place. I am looking for a man named Kyle, he asked me to get him some boar hides."
"Oh, you are the man Kyle mentioned. Please follow me, I will take you to his office." The attendant started to scurry off. Renard followed along but was a little confused.
'How could that wagon-driving old man own such a place?'
