Chapter 73 - Day 22.9: Multiply.

[Side failed objective: Eliminate the eggs] my system called out. But I could barely hear it as I was drowned out by the sound of tiny screeches.

A shower of yellow bodies. Thousands of squirming limbs flew through the air as tiny translucent Frostfangs the same size of the golden drops exploded out from the sack into the entire room.

Pat. Pat. Pat.

Their tiny bodies slapped across my body as they fell off and onto the floor in front of me. Some lucky babies managed to cling on top of my body as they began to crawl all over me.

It was an arachnophobe's nightmare, but for me, I was almost in heaven.

'It's time to eat.' I thought as I smiled. No longer was I forced to stare at food in front of me. I was instead treated to a meal as they came to me instead. I was so delighted that I didn't even care that I had failed the side-objective.

Opening my mouth I swiped forward as I gulped down as many little Frostfangs that were probably the same size as I was when I was born. Biting down, I could hear their tiny little cries and screams as they popped - their flesh and fluids mixing together into a delicious soup before they were completely devoured by my stomach.

I didn't just stop there. Sucking in as hard as I could, their bodies flew into the air toward my mouth. I watched as their bodies clung as hard as they could the webbing and my body. Shaking, their feet lost traction. Fear. Fear filled their tiny eyes as they were pulled into my gullet by the suction.

More lives were lost to the void within me.

"More! More!" I cried out maniacally. "Fill the void within me!"

[Devour's Euphoria] kicked up another notch as I used the newly added speed to swoop up more of my meal. And as I did, my wounds from the female Frostfang began to heal up as I felt stronger and stronger.

my gluttonous voice cried out in pure pleasure as it mirrored my own feelings.

Soon, an empty space devoid of any tiny bodies had formed around me. Even though the tiny Frostfangs were just born, they were smart. Instead of waiting to be eaten. They scrambled all over each other's bodies in a mad dash to survive. I didn't let them get away. As they tumbled over each other, I continued to swipe at their bodies with my mouth wide open.

Instead of being attack by giant monsters, I became the giant monster.

The tiny Frostfangs back away even more as they clung to each other in fear. Or so I thought.

Soon a tiny pile of bodies assembled above the bound beetle's body. It continued to grow. And it became more apparent that they weren't gathering there in fear.

Remember when the gluttonous voice brought up the question of why the Female Frostfang and I ignored the voice? And I told it to shut up or we will be the ones that will be eaten? Yup. I was right without knowing. We were food. We were food for the young spiders. Unfortunately for the female Frostfang, it was mistaken. My seizure-like movement probably tricked it to think that I was deeply affected by her poison when I wasn't. My resistance had saved me!

But unfortunately for me, the brown beetle wasn't as lucky.

It was being slowly drained while being alive. It became food. Food for the Frostfangs.

...

As the pile grew, small spiders fell off the pile and passed the point of no return - to my stomach. Ignoring the pile, I continued to swipe at the tiny Frostfangs that were pushed out from the pile. I was too distracted that I didn't notice that the spiderlings were growing. And they were growing big.

As the seconds passed, I finally noticed that something was wrong as the pile above the beetle expanded sudden. Larger and larger. Swish. A long foot poked out from beneath the pile of squirming bodies.

Not yellow, but grey and covered in hairs true Frostfang had emerged from the pile. Within seconds it had grown suddenly and it was all due it feeding on the beetle!

Completely surprised I looked at the Frostfang in awe as it shook tiny spiders off its body and seemed to stare at me with intent.

'I wish I could grow as big and as quickly as you.' I thought to myself as I stared back.

I was three times its size. It didn't scare me at all. If anything, I felt my saliva drip down my face as I stared intently at the giant piece of meat that had appeared in front of me.

It bent downward as if it was going to launch an attack. Shaking its body, it agilely pointed its razor-sharp legs at my body and jumped.

I knew this motion way too well. I moved instantly in response.

I opened my mouth immediately and bit down.

Nothing. I had missed.

Although I was faster than it, it didn't actually attack me. It was a feint. It wasn't dumb. Although I was bound by a cocoon of webbing, it still wanted to test the waters...

Jumping backwards, it shook its head as it hopped up and down. A taunt. Just like its dead father.

"Ha. I felt for that already. In no way am I going to fall for it again. You're father's dead by the way and I ate him. Ha!" I taunted it back.

As if it understood me, anger seemed to teem within its eyes as it shook its foot toward me like it was threatening me.

"Why would I be scared of you?" I asked as I stared back at it. "Look around you, even your siblings are scared." I continued as I switched to intimidation.

It stared at me and said "Oh yeah?" back to me, but it was probably just in my head.

But like any other ironic situation, I was easily proven wrong. As if it could create shadow clones the Frostfang suddenly shifted and another spider the same size of it jumped out of the pile behind it. The number of Frostfangs had doubled within seconds.

"Two? I can easily take two even three of you!" I shouted as the world seemed to accept my challenge.

Two became three.

"Three?" I asked. But the world decided to humour me and spawn a fourth and then a fifth.

Shaking my head, I almost thought I was delusional, but I wasn't. The single large Frostfang became five.

'I don't think I can take five on at the same time.' I thought as I stared at the five large Frostfangs that were hopping up and down in excitement as they surrounded my body from all sides.
