Chapter 5 - The Test (3)

Saiph stared up at the large structure and looked back down to see golden doors opening at the bottom. The same electronic voice from the first test sounded out, "Please enter and begin the test."

As Saiph entered, she saw a hallway that had many doors.

"Please go into a room," said the voice from above as the doors opened.

When Saiph went into a room, she saw strange equipment and many people dressed in white with their face covered by masks.

Some approached her and led her to a platform that had a large chair and a table that was filled with countless tools and gadgets.

"We will be injecting you with some of the advanced serums that will allow us to basically look into your mind. The miniature bots in your bloodstream will monitor your heart rate, the chemicals that control your emotions, and your brain waves. We may use them to influence things within your mind. After 5 hours, the bots will be out of your system and the test will be over," said a white-clothed man as he wiped Saiph's arm with a cloth that was damp with disinfectant.

A team of people went out of the room.

"This might hurt a little," said the man next to Saiph.

Saiph's eyes went wide as she saw the people that just went out of the room come back in with a huge syringe. They grabbed her arm and smoothly pierced her skin with the needle of the large syringe. Wincing from the pain, she steeled her self and sighed as a cool stream entered her blood. The odd feeling spread and Saiph shuddered from the sensations as it went through her body. It felt like a shiver, only stronger.

"When you are ready, we will guide you to the changing area where we will give you the uniform for the test."

Saiph felt like she was underwater and the sounds she heard seemed to be muffled. She felt calm and her beautiful face looked serene. After a couple of minutes, the feeling subsided and Saiph's eyes slowly fluttered open. She nodded at the staff that was standing at the side.

"I'm ready."

"We will guide you to the changing rooms."

They headed to the back of the white room where a metallic door was located. Saiph nimbly got up from the large chair and followed them into another room that was filled with mirrors and cabinets made of wood. Some of the staff left the room, and Saiph was left with 3 female attendants. One of them opened a cabinet door and pulled out a pair of metallic leggings. "These leggings are equivalent to armor that can resist a strike from a primary moon realm. When you become a student of the academy, you can keep these and later exchange them for better ones. If you do not pass the test, we will take them back and give you back your own clothes."

They then swiftly gathered around Saiph and pulled off her dress, leaving her in her undergarments. Two held onto her arms to keep her steady as she slipped her legs into the metallic leggings. It was cool to the touch and stretchy, adjusting to her waist size and tightening around her legs. The third attendant was rummaging through one of the cabinets when she pulled out a greyish metallic button-down shirt.

"The rules that apply to the leggings apply to these too."

Saiph slid the shirt over her shoulders and found that the material was silky and did not stretch.

She quickly buttoned the shirt up while all three of the attendants were looking through the many cabinets.

"They changed the layout this year," one of them muttered as they rummaged around.

Another let out an "Ahah!" as they pulled a navy blue overcoat from a cabinet. It had a large zipper down the front and seemed to be moderately thick. There were zipped pockets at its sides and the elegant sleeves were adorned with the school logo in gold. It was an image of a roaring lion with eagle wings.

As Saiph slipped the overcoat on, one of the attendants spoke, "The pockets are dimensional pockets that have the interior of a backpack. Unlike your new leggings and shirt, this can protect you from a moon pinnacle's full strike. If the shirt or leggings are damaged, you can ask to repair it or replace it. However, with this coat, you must repair or buy new ones with your own money or school points."

Saiph was impressed with the protection of the overcoat, but was curious about the school points, "What are the school points?"

"You can get them from high scores, achievements, duels, or the monthly allowance. You can also go on quests or missions to get extra points."

"Oh yeah, when dueling, you will have to use your own armor to not damage these and to make it fair since, at your level, you couldn't make a scratch on it," added another.

"Now that you're all dressed, we will bring you to meet with the other contestants."
