Tom and I walk into the classroom and realize how thin the air feels. Everyone is on edge and we could immediately tell who caused it.
Lillian stood over Melissa's desk glaring to no end. Her eyebrows twitching and teeth grinding, Lillian leaned forward and said, "If Anthony ever confesses to you, reject him hard!!!"
Of course everyone started laughing. I sat in my seat and pulled off my protective gear. It was unusually hot out. As I open the jacket, I could feel my shirt clinging to my body.
Silence. I look around with down castes eyes and I could feel the sweat dripping down my chin.
"I want to be his sweat."
"No, his shirt."
"Better yet, his underwear."
"Disgus-" I never finished. I remember how it felt to be told that.
I looked down and could feel my shoulders sag.
"Ant," Tom said, putting his hand on my shoulder.
I look up toward him, eyes slightly clouded and then look back down. If I hadn't looked down, I would have been able to see Tom blush which is a rare sight.
Soon class started and everyone took out their devices while talking about the long vacation coming up. It was going to be summer soon. Our school didn't follow social norms and end of term wasn't before the vacation began.
As I've stated before, this school is weird. We take our next exams as soon as we come back and that time period determines if we will enter the next school year.
"Sigh, will I even get to enter the next school year," I thought to myself.
Anyways, back to summer break…
Lillian seemed to have offer her family beach house as consultation for ruining the mood earlier, but that's beside the point.
She's loaded, so it's not even a real compensation.
"Anthony, your coming, right?" asked Alex.
I looked at Alex and shrugged.
"All together now!" Alex shouted.
"Please come, Anthony!"
I could feel my face burn up. I looked at my device with questions still unanswered.
I don't usually participate in these events. FYI(1), all I can see in the future are panting dogs on a beach.
I'm going to regret this, I thought.
"If I have time," I replied coolly, as I put my head down to sleep until lunch time.
