Chapter 17 - Morning

[Veleda] When I stepped out of my door in the morning the lights were on. I could now see the hallway. At the end of the hallway there was a large metal blast door, but other than that the hallway seemed normal. The hallway had a light brown carpet with gray walls. I walked back to the elevator, not knowing which floor to go to, I pressed all the buttons. After the first two floors I reached a hallway I recognized. Stepping out, I walked down the hallway that I had come through the night before. Having no where else to go to, walked over to the plaza area. It was busier now in the day. There were about fifteen people. I walked in and found a seat, leaned back, and stared at the ceiling. It was much taller than I realized from the small glimpse I got yesterday. The ceiling was high up and there were multiple floors with Windows looking in on the plaza. At the top was a blank gray roof, with a glass dome in the middle.

"You know," I heard a voice over my shoulder, "this really is one of the best places on the ship." it was Jaku, "let's go, Narchean and Buvin are waiting for us in the mess hall."

With a sigh I picked myself up, off of the chair. We walked back towards the hanger, as we got past the end of the plaza Narchean stopped. Turning to a door on our left, he opened it to reveal a staircase. The staircase, as it seemed everything on this ship might be, was dimly lit and dull gray in color. We walked up the stairs maybe 4 or 5 floors before exiting to a much better lit area of the ship. It was built in very much the same way as the area around the plaza on the lower floor. The hallways here, instead of having doors to rooms unknown, this hallway had windows looking out into space. Moving over to the windows, I could look down on the planet. It was beautiful, I saw my home to the west, hidden by the cover of a thick forest. In the east across the ocean there was a large desert, and a fire so large we could see it from space.

"Come on," Narchean said, looking over my shoulder, "There will be time to admire the view later."

We walked into the large open area in the center. This was a cafeteria, that was much busier than the plaza downstairs, although not as comfortable. In the center, was a glass dome looking down on the plaza. On the far end of the cafeteria, there was a line where you could get food, although it didn't seem very appetizing. Through the rest of a cafeteria there were benches, seats and tables where people could eat.

Narchean, already sitting at a table with Jaku, and someone else motioned for me to come over. "Take a seat will you?" I sighed as I sat down. "Now," he said, "let's talk business."
