Chapter 20 - [No-Title-3]

[Veleda] Although the plaza was nice, I was interested in a few of the other facilities on the ship as well. Looking at the key they gave me, I pressed the button, it seemed i had level 2 access. There were five levels of access with five being the highest, level one allowed access to a room, cafeteria, and hallways, level two allowed access to training rooms and workshop fronts as well. By workshop front, it means that there is no access to supply rooms or areas with schematics and such, only access to the tools and shop area. I wished to check the hangar as well, but it appears I wasn't given the security clearance to do so.

Knowing that my options were limited, I set out in search of the training room. Upon finding it after fifteen minutes of wandering the halls on different levels, I looked around at the various areas. The room was L shaped with a main square area that hosted weight machines, workout equipment, and a sparring ring in the middle. The smaller section to the side contained a small shooting range, and an area with roughly human-shaped robots for practice. In that area, Jaku was most impressively destroying bots one after another. It was clear the robots were made from sufficiently advanced technology, as they seemed to have smart AI, and the robots self repaired and got back up to continue fighting. Jaku stopped the program and took off his helmet, wiping his brow with his knife hand while holstering his pistol. The robots returned to their stands and Jaku walked over. "Veleda!" he seemed a bit surprised "did you come to look at our facilities?"

"Yes. I must say although there isn't much here, the practice area is rather impressive..." "May I ask how you made the practice robots? I haven't seen this tech before."

Jaku's face looked confused "Really? It's rather simple, although I can't share the secret with you. However, outside of the ship, it only works on a small scale due to power inefficiency." he flopped himself against the wall "Fuuaahhh... So much better." he shed his armor, and it was sucked into the wall. There was clearly more weird and unknown technology on this ship. Figuring I would get a similar response I figured it was better not to question it. "Well," my attention was brought back to Jaku, now standing in a sweaty tee-shirt and sweatpants which he had been wearing under his armor. "I'll be going now, if you need anything you can call me through the intercoms. My id is J114." With that he left, leaving me alone with three others in the work out room.

Looking around I wondered if I was welcome. Realizing it was stupid to think about these things, I gave myself a mental slap, and walked over towards the practice area. Upon entry, a display on the weapon rack lit up "[select difficulty]." Moving the slider to two, I picked up a blade (not a sword), and a revolver. After securing it to my waist, I unsheathed my blade, with a satisfying sound.

While it wasn't as good as the one I usually used, the blade was still, well… fairly easy to use at least. Stepping up, I immediately began to get in the mood. One after another I sliced through the practice bots, cutting them into fine small pieces. As I had seen when Jaku was fighting, they got up again after a few minutes. The feeling was stranger than usual to have to watch for fallen enemies getting back up.

By the time I stopped, I had worked up a good sweat. I walked up the hallway to my room. There were a few others in the hallway, one or two eyed me weirdly as I walked by. A hologram of a young lady walked down the hallway among the residents. "New look today Kitt?" someone asked to her as she passed. The hologram sighed, "Just trying something new."

Ignoring the conversation that followed, I walked into my room, heading for the bathroom to take a shower. Before I got there, the hologram from the hallway earlier came floating through the wall. "Hello!" She spoke now in a more cheery mood it seemed. "I'm Kitt, the pilot, and local AI. Since you'll be living here for the next few days, I hope we can get along. Now I'll be going." she floated back through the wall. With that, I proceeded to my shower.
