When Foo was pondering about if there was anything else that he should instruct the observer, the observer took the silence as a go-ahead and left.
When Foo looked up again with his next instruction on his tongue, he noticed that it had disappeared.
"Shit! I had lots of things to say!"
Now that he had thought some more, he realized that he could have asked the observer if he had any knowledge about `scripting`. It would be likely that it would be the case.
But now he had to wait until next time they saw each other. And as they had not decided when they should meet the next time, he had no idea when that would be.
Hopefully the observer would come back after fooling the section head. But on the other hand, he did instruct it to pretend to work for the section head. That might be interpreted as it should not come back...
At least it should work on getting him the documents about `scripting` and some money. The other questions could wait till later.
As the rubbish did not have any value, Foo decided to leave. Just because he could endure things in the pursuit of profit, did not mean that he found the stench any less unbearable.
With a rejoicing Lucifer at his side, they made their way towards the siblings' residence.
But on the way he encountered the nice warrior apprentice that they met on the way to the academy.
The one with the name... He was called... Anyway, it seemed like he was looking for Foo, as he approached him as soon as he saw him.
"Hey! Foo! I was just looking for you!"
"Then be overjoyed! As here I am!"
The oddity of the response should distract him from any reflection over that he did not respond with his name, even though he used Foo's.
It was not that Foo had forgotten his name, it was just that Lucifer was near, and there was some tales that told that you should not tell a spirit your name, or something.
As such, the magmious Foo refrained from using the warrior's name. He even had such a big heart that he did not even think on the name.
As expected, the response to his greeting did stun him for a second.
"Ah, I was looking for you to see if you have passed the examination yet, and tell you that they have resumed operations if you have not taken it."
"Yes, I have passed the examinations. As such I am now a proper student of the academy!"
Snickering at the side, Lucifer injected, "The hell with student! He screwed them over and became the section head of the `Magic Warriors`!"
Stunned at the spirit that he did not notice before it spoke, the warrior apprentice observed it carefully. Clearly he had not seen a spirit before.
"Really? I thought he came here to take the wizard examination?"
Coughing lightly, Foo replied, "Well, that was the idea. But then some minor problems popped up, and here we are."
"The hell with anything close to minor!" Lucifer clearly disapproved.
He almost destroyed the entire Abyss, dispersed all his hard earned miasma, somehow tricked both the system and the academy to somehow become the section head...
That was anything but minor!
"Well, that does not matter." Foo replied, clearly not wanting to dwell in such minor matters.
"Wait! Did you say section head?" the young warrior apprentice exclaimed, "You must be kidding me, right?"
"Hey, Lucifer. Do you think I can give the section head position to him?"
"Hmm? No, that would not be possible. It seems like you have to master magic as well. Well, unless someone completely fuck up the examination." Lucifer said while giving a meaningful glance towards Foo.
A glance that Foo completely ignored.
He had just asked to joke with the poor apprentice before them. But it would be nice if he could put someone else in that position. It was nothing but responsibilities.
Well, it should have some perks too, but if he could get someone that he could control to take the position, he could get all benefits and none of the disadvantages.
"Me? Section head?" replied the stunned man.
"Anyway, the matter you came for is done. Both I and... the girl... have passed our examinations. Was it anything else?"
"Well, I was kind of going to ask if I could stay with you guys?"
"Got kicked out, huh?"
"Things happened, and my teacher picked up another apprentice after we arrived at the academy. And thus he had no spots left for me..."
"Well, as he did take me as his apprentice, he did try to solve the problem. Or at least that is what he wanted it to seem like..."
Sighing at his misfortune, he continued, "But I know that they would continue to attempt to make me quit. So I got the suggestion from an senior to join the third section instead. At Least I get to listen in on the lectures and join the exercises if there is room."
"The housing that they were going to give me might be just a tad better than the residences here, but they would surely continue to pester me. So I rather live here with nice company than to stay there."
Such a perfect opportunity! Foo just happened to lack a lab rat... a lab ratified assistant... Yes. With a lab ratified assistant he could see if he could produce magic warriors.
The riff raff in the third section would probably be quite bad, but this lab rat...ified assistant was chosen by a proper teacher of the academy, which meant that his skills was not that bad.
With a bright smile that sent shivers down his spines, Foo welcomed the man.
"Ah, as I am the section head of the third section, I am sure that I can arrange for you to stay here! And I have plans to improve the housing and lectures here, so in just a while it might even get better than the other sections."
Taking a step back, just to get his arm caught by Foo, the man worried that he had made a bad choice after all.
