Chapter 40 - Totem Upgrade, Allocation And Army Expansion (Part 1)

Faruth was extremely pleased with this new group of arrivals. Though he hadn't had any real interaction with the Gnolls and Goblins among the group, just these 6 alone were a powerful asset. His village's strength had grown by a large margin. After introducing the 6 to the current powers within the village, Faruth sent them back to the camp outside, to hold a meeting with the elders of the village.

The room at the furthest point in the cave had become the designated meeting room, through a unanimous decision by all of the elders. Of course, as they were sitting at the table (stone slab in the middle of the room), Faruth had an actual throne like seat, made by Klein and Auram when the training for the battle was ongoing. Next to him, were the next most important people in the village, the current most powerful elder, Wulfarth and the wisest in the village, Grimanth.

From there on sat the two elders opposite each other, Hoki and Droki and finally, the four main soldiers within the village, Rath, Drath, Marth and Alneth. Getting the meeting quickly under way, Faruth explained why he had gathered them all into the room.

["As you all rightly know, we have just received an influx of new arrivals within our village. You are all wise and can likely tell that this doesn't only spell good things for us. New members in our village will give us more soldiers, an increased work force and more presence in the forest. But, on the other hand, each and every one of them has needs. Needs that would not be provided for long with our current set up, after all, we have more than double what we had previously, including all of us! Now, I do have a few ideas. I hope that we can all agree on something by the end of this meeting."] {Faruth}

Faruth's plan was fairly simple, he planned to allocate some labour to build a larger secondary wall to provide more space for the village. Though the houses could be placed within the inner wall, as they had enough room, there would be no room for extra growth, after all, Faruth now had the means to upgrade his villages totem and wanted to unlock some new building schematics.

Shortly after the meeting began, Faruth called Klein into the room to discuss alongside them. He left Auram outside however. Auram couldn't handle the pressure coming from Faruth alone when faced with him before he learned the [Buddhism] skill. As the room now contained four of the same figures, Faruth felt it was only right to not let the poor carpenter suffer.

Faruth explained to Klein his plans for the village and Klein in turn explained his estimate on the number of resources and manpower that would be required to complete these tasks. After a while of discussion, they had created a plan that they would follow when constructing the new parts of the village. Faruth would expand the village into the forest, or where it was previously. They would cut down the logs at the front, slowly moving in to make more room for the villages expansion.

The first construction would be the secondary wall that was planned. The first wall was about 30 metres out from the cave, whereas the second wall would be 40 metres out from that, coming to a total of 70 metres away from the cave. Though this wasn't exactly a huge village, it was an increase of over twice the size from its previous state. Within these walls, Faruth planned to build 5 new farms, each providing for about, 10 people for every farmer, as per Klein's estimations. He also planned to build two new animal pens for future use.

After this discussion had finished, Faruth brought the meeting on to his second point, the allocation of the new villagers. He proposed that Grimanth and the two elders be in charge of the initial interviews, finding out the names of the villagers, their speciality and so on. After that, they would be sent to Faruth, who would then put them under various people in the village. However, if their chosen profession had anything to do with fighting or hunting, Faruth would deal with them himself.

Surprisingly, all those present agreed with this immediately, especially those in charge of the initial interviews. They were proud to have been given such an important role by Faruth, even though they hadn't evolved. After thanking Faruth for about 10 minutes or so, they finally became quiet, leaving Faruth to go on to his next and final point. Giving the soldiers new titles.

Though they were only superficial for now, Faruth had a hunch that a new title involving a higher rank of soldier was bound to come along with upgrading his village totem, hence he was giving it to them now to have them acknowledged by the village elders.

["Which brings me to my final point, I would like to give out some new titles. As we have discussed, there will likely be those amongst the new arrivals that wish to become soldiers. If we want our village to succeed despite our small numbers, we need strength and order. That's why, I am bestowing you, Rath, Drath and Marth and Alneth with the title of General. You will lead the new soldiers as their bosses, like I do to you. Of course, you may not know how to lead a troop of soldiers. Do not worry, I will teach you all how to command, just as you will teach those under you. I expect only the highest of results from all of you, is that clear?"] {Faruth}

["Yes Chief!"] {All}

["Good, now, if anyone has anything that they would like to bring up themselves, please speak now... Nothing? Okay, this meeting is officially finished, Hoki, Droki, Grimanth, move to the centre and set up a space to conduct these interviews. Klein, tell Auram of the construction plans and begin to plan yourself. Generals, stay within the cave for the time being, at least until the interview are over. Wulfarth, you stay here too"] {Faruth}

As the meeting ended, Faruth walked into the centre of the village and looked at the totem. It was only a single rung high, though that was about to change.

[[Name: Village Totem Pole]]

[[Description: Though the totem pole is only at its first stage, it already marks the beginning of your village! It is used to manage the village's population, taxes and more! It also offers slight protection and boosts for its inhabitants!]]

[[Effects:]]

[[Strength, Agility and Endurance +1 for all in the village's radius]]

[[Monsters up to the same level as the village chief cannot enter the village]]

[[Village Radius: 100m]]

[[Would you like to upgrade? Yes/No?]]

Of course, Faruth chose to upgrade his totem, creating a sheen of white light around the centre. Though this appeared to be the same white light that appeared when the 5 were evolving, it was considerably dimmer. After a minute or so of the white light spreading and churning, it slowly began to fade, revealing the second rung on the totem. Whereas the first rung had the appearance of a Gnoll's face, the second had the appearance of Faruth currently, that of a wolf. It appeared that the totem's rungs followed the same pattern as Faruth's evolutions.

[[Congratulations, Herald! Your village has become rank two!]]

[[You have gained the title: Greater Chieftain (Rare)!]]

[[You have unlocked new schematics!]]

[[You have unlocked new titles!]]

[[Because your village had become rank two, you must choose a name for your village!]]

Without paying attention to the new options, Faruth racked his brain trying to think of a name for his village. Thinking back at it, he probably should have consulted with the elders, but maybe it was his own selfish desire taking over, the desire to monopolise his land the took over him for a short moment. Within this very second, the name was born within the mind of Faruth. The name that would bring terror whenever anyone spoke of it, that would scare children and adults alike to the point of tears.

["Blackfang"] {Faruth}
