She felt herself fall and cursed out loud. She tried several times to grab onto a railing, but her hands were too slippery. Still, she never stopped despite the pain, till her hand managed to hold onto a rail. Not bothering to catch her breath, she pulled herself up and dashed from the stairwell into a corridor. She was now officially lost. She had no idea where she was and how far from the exit she had fallen.
Just when she wanted to scream in frustration, a figure in the corridor caught her eye.
"My lady!" she shouted in excitement.
Helen heard Lizzy's voice and paused. Yet despite looking around, she could not find her.
Lizzy ran towards Helen and held onto her wrist, startling Helen to almost flip her.
"My lady, let's go!" she dragged Helen as she continued running. Behind them, a dark figure paused and stared at their leaving backs, before following.
"Lizzy, is that you?" Helen asked.
"Yes,"
"Why can't I," Helen started to ask.
"Later. My lady we are being followed!" Lizzy shouted as her figure appeared for a second, only to disappear.
Helen looked back at the dark figure following slowly behind them and froze. Why had she not realized this person was here? This figure moved as though his feet were not touching the ground, gliding at an almost lazy pace. It seemed as though he was lazily catching up.
A clanging sound of a pounding engine ripped through the air at that moment. Helen looked out the window and noticed a train coming in the distance.
"The train," she said. Next thing she knew, it was already approaching the nether grounds.
"It's fast!" she grabbed Lizzy's arm holding her wrist and pulled her towards the right corridor. Windows leading outside adorned each the left wall on this corridor, allowing them to clearly see the train coming.
"Let's go!" she grabbed Lizzy who just appeared for a second on the waist in one swift motion and flipped out of the window. They were falling from so high up, that fear gripped their bones. Helen could only grit her teeth and wait. At the trajectory they were falling, they were going to miss the train, by a few metres. Helen looked up at the figure free-falling with them and snorted. She would not be a Ligrel clan descendant if a little fall could kill her.
She grabbed Lizzy by the clothes and made a full spin in the air, making sure to twist with all her strength, the scared Lizzy in her grasp.
Crack; she heard the bones on her arm crack but could not care to stop. She released Lizzy flying towards the train; allowing the power of the motion to throw her in the opposite direction.
She looked back at the direction she had been thrown; it was solid rock ahead. At that speed, she would be slammed into the rock. Noting how her arm cracked from a simple air manoeuvre she had done so much as a child, she understood her body had grown weak; slamming into that rock would kill her.
