I did promise to serve the country, but I vowed to love you.

The war lasted for almost two months; a few more days before Xael's time limit were over. Even though she and Marshell managed to eliminate the man behind all of this, warding off the soldiers from the enemy's side is not a matter that could happen overnight.
The crown prince was then sent back to the royal palace with the news that he was seen collaborating with an enemy country, when the war was at its peak, an internal conflict came up and he was almost tortured to death.
But instead of being happy when his son came back alive, the king was furious; he immediately stripped of the crown prince's title, removed him from the royal family and throws him to the country side to die alone.
Unknown to whether he still loved his son that he gave him a leeway and didn't execute him or he's punishing him to live a live not living, Xael didn't know and didn't care.
After learning that what happened on the original story was because of the crown prince's vile plan, Xael decided to let go of her plans to take revenge to Charles and Yvonne.
As she thought about it, Xael M. was not craving for revenge, all she wanted to do was to make Charles understood her feelings, and Xael M. has accomplished that in several ways.
Honestly, other than Yvonne previously lusting towards her husband and her, hating Charles' way of doing things due to some issues, they have not done anything to receive more face slap after the scene that night.
When the war ended and she met Charles after a very long time, Xael has said her piece for the closure. Wearing the outfit that Xael M. prefer, a lovely dress of green juniper hug her body, instead of displaying a character with girlish aura, she stood out like a proper lady that was born to be love.
The battle field might not be the best parting setting but the earlier the better, Xael then walked slowly but surely.
Charles wanted to say a lot of things but before he could even express his feelings, Xael poured cold water on his feelings.
"Charles, I know that things didn't end up like what we thought it would be but I wanted to say thank you. If not for you, I wouldn't be with my lover now. He made me realize what true love is. I hope you find your own happiness." Xael smiled, it was too pure that Charles' tongue could only stay on where it was.
That was the last smile she directed into him before walking on where Marshell is. It was supposed to be a clean break, though on Charles' side, those words were nothing but a dagger that would pierce his heart till the day that it will stop beating.
After the war, Xael also decided to get a closure with Yvonne but who would have thought that she wouldn't have any chance to do so.
For the past months that the Marshell could only think of separating Charles and Xael's path while Xael do nothing but alienate the world enjoying her husband's attention, Yvonne met the crown prince and fell in love with him. Even though she knew that his intention of getting close to her was not due to clean feelings, she accepted it whole heartedly.
When the crown prince was thrown to the country side, she immediately made her way there to pursue him and take care of him. Whether they will have a good ending, Xael was too lazy to care.
Better yet, she doesn't care as long as she could secure her own issues.
After the war, Xael left for home, naturally, without any delay, Marshell brought his presence in her manor. He was actually there to propose a marriage to Xael.
Just as he entered the hall, General Atticus was the first one to welcome him. "I haven't seen you in a long time, young man. You certainly made big change to your name."
"Sir, I couldn't have done it without your granddaughter," Marshell said straight laced. Normally, General Atticus would be in his neutral cold self but this time, his face was fiercer than the Siberian winter.
"Hoh? With my granddaughter? Are you sure that you're with her or you're just following her around?" General Atticus retorted. His question was oozing sarcasm and mockery.
"Your granddaughter could only be with me sir. I'm the only man she will love from now on, besides I'm going to marry her whether you like it or not." Marshell answered. He was not backing down even a little bit.
Watching the scene, Sigfred and Sigvard couldn't help but laugh, their father might be a bit shy on expressing his self but when it comes to Xael, he could be more doting and protective as he was.
"Didn't you come here to get my approval? Do you think, I'll agree in your terms with your attitude just now?" General Atticus smirked, he was the head of the family so by common practice, a blessing is needed before letting a girl of a family be married into someone.
"No. I was planning on marrying Xael and not you sir, please be at ease." Hearing his response made General Atticus explode in anger, unfortunately for him, before he could even send the man flying out, Xael's voice echoed from the entrance of the hall.
"Marshell." Xael called out, warmth and love was evident even from just her calling his name.
Looking back, Marshell's face held an 'I won' expression before it was replaced with an sincere and almost innocent loving one, he walked towards her and snaked his arms around her waist before clinging like his life depends on it. "Baby, you're here."
Just with that endearment, Marshell was branded as the rogue who stole the unica ija of the Martineau Manor, at the same time, Xael has completed her mission. Even though General Atticus looked like he's disagreeing with things, he was more satisfied seeing her granddaughter was now happy, he couldn't ask for more.
In addition, the world's rule, the plot, is now dead and would not be turn to how it was. Her time limit were severed and she could now live with her husband until their hair turned gray and white, one of the thing she has been dreaming off. The one she couldn't fulfill on her real world.
This time, she could finally let go one of her regrets.
