It is said that in the Kingdom of Duyul, lakes are the home to mermaids that are considered sacred and devine. It is the only Kingdom where activities such as fishing and swimming are prohibited for such activities are considered to be a disturbance to the tranquil home of the guardian of the water bodies. 
There are many myth about the Guardian of the lakes showering people that worship them with good fortune and blessing while bringing destruction and havoc to those who disturbs their abode. 

Some say that if the Guardian of the lake recognizes you as their mate then your soul will be taken by them to their abode forever to live there but never to be reincarnated.
