The Cruel World is the story of a young man who believes in paranormal activities. Due to his curiosity, he decides to travel to the most famous forest in Japan—The Suicide Forest. Soon after, he discovers a book with four chapters detailing the lives of various people. What he witnesses surprises him, as it contains individuals who are all disqualified as human beings. Upon reading about the dread and panic they feel towards humans, it makes Emil reflect on what he is missing in life. The story explores the treatments of different beliefs of humans and the unthinkable actions they would do. It also delves into scenarios involving witchcraft, which is fundamental to the story.

To comprehend the essence of despair and hatred, and to conquer the world of greed, one must understand how the world functions and the insensitivity it imposes on different individuals. These thoughts have always occupied my mind. How do humans cope with their own kind? We witness theft, murder, and domination among us. As I realize all of these, humanity seems to be crumbling and revealing its true form.
