Fifteen-year-old Touya Mochizuki is accidentally killed by God. A re-release of an MMORPG from the early 2010's garners a huge wave of interest after showcasing it's improved systems and functions capable through the recently developed Full Dive technology. After announcing the beta period would be opened for a limited number of people, Kai Thukaw, immediately signs up and manages to get 1 of the only 1000 spots for the beta.
