Ciel Adams is a Fourth Stage Esper from the now destroyed last stronghold of humanity; Bastion City. The city had survived long past the dreaded Judgment Day, a day when The Eternal Flames suddenly engulfed the world and the ghastly Fallen descended. Desperate to change such an end, Ciel deploys one of the few tricks left at his disposal, that being his ability to manifest each of The Major Arcana Cards into the real world and using this, he successfully regresses to the past.      However due to his unstable power his soul fails to withstand the arduous journey back and shatters into twenty two pieces. These pieces each represent a major arcana card which have been given shape as clones. Now awakening within a broken state, and lacking all the power which he once held, Ciel is faced with the arduous task of not only saving the dreaded future which awaits humanity, but of helping his previous mentor. All the while, he must also take it upon himself to seek out and hunt the clones of him with the goal of regaining his past power and obtaining a complete soul once more.
