There's a whole new world being introduced, many different species. All characters, despite not being in the main cast, have a storyline. And just when he got fixed, he was heaped with the burden of saving the world on his shoulders so he has had no choice but to hide his true personality and keep up the front he had been putting on, which ironically just worked for him.
