without justice
Two generations after mysterious superpowers begin manifesting in children around age 13, only to disappear soon after they turn 18, the sport of EMA(Enhanced Martial Arts) has become a worldwide phenomenon for its bombastic action, in spite of the minimal risk to its competitors, called the Enhanced. Pairs of fighters and their Conduits, other kids who serve as their power batteries, and often, fighters of their own, enter competitions on many levels in search of fame and money, while world governments conduct research on the powers of the Enhanced, and organized crime syndicates find increasingly dangerous and exploitative uses for disadvantaged Enhanced children.
Jordan Richardson sits uncomfortably in the middle of this new sports subculture barrelling into the mainstream. Failing to awaken any powers of his own despite being the only third-generation child of one of the most respected families in EMA, he and his family’s inner circle took drastic measures when he was 15. After adjusting to his artificial, illegal powers, he transfers into the prestigious Lanceford High, a rising star in the EMA scene, and strives to keep his secret while being sure he lives up to the expectations set for him as a third-generation EMA fighter. However, it seems everyone underestimates the dangers lurking in the underground EMA world, even those with close connections to it.
