And who was this shadow of a man and what power did he have, that left everyone, including his subordinates terrified of him? *Excerpt* "Wait here for the master, do not get up. Keep your head down", a distant voice finally spoke, then quietly adding in a whisper with a cautious tone. "Whatever you do, try not to make the master angry. For your sake". The doors closing behind me, leaving me again in the eerie slience, except for the sound of my ragged breathing, beads of cold sweat began forming on my forehead. My palms felt wet and sweaty against the chains. I waited and waited, and waited, the minutes ticking by. No one was approaching the doors, no footsteps. The place was awfully quiet. I consider peeking beneath the blindfold to find a way out, but the fear of the unknown, the ghost- like atmosphere horrified me, and kept me still, glue to the ground. "What are you?" A cold, low, menacing growl spoke from nowhere, emanating from all around me, causing me to jump but I maintain my posture. Head down, still kneeling down. I didn't hear him enter the room, the doors never opened and I didn't sense him. Like a ghost. It was chilling, like he had materialized out of thin air. "Speak," the voice came out as a low vibrating echoing through the room. "I..I don't know, you bought me..to be whatever you wished me to be." I stammered,my lips trembling as I spoke, he cut me off. "You're neither man nor beast. But unlike you,I know what I am...I am a beast." The voice made my skin crawl, heavied my body, the voice felt like a thousand weight pressing my body, the more he spoke the heavier I felt, like I was about to crumble to the ground from the dying weight. Though his voice seemed far,his aura creeping closer and closer, I could feel his presence drawing nearer and nearer, menacing. "I ask you again,WHAT. ARE. YOU?." The voice, this time, whispered in my ear from behind me. The malevolent breath, the feral, inhumane aura enveloped me,this time intensifying. My body couldn't move, my body couldn't react, it was like my subconscious was trapped in a statue, I was paralyzed. Everything began to feel wobbly, like my body had finally succumbed to the crushing weight of his feral aura spewing, radiating from him. "I don't know..." My voice was barely audible. Those were the last words I remembered coming out of my mouth before darkness consumed me and I slumped into unconsciousness. A beast he said?, What man would call himself a beast?.

The Terminal Author And His Relentless System

Zapp was an author, a dreamer — and a dying man. His final breath came not with fear, but with regret. He left behind his sister, his only family, and the unfinished novel he poured his soul into: a brutal, unforgiving world governed by an ironclad System. When his eyes opened again, he wasn’t in a hospital bed. He woke up inside his own creation — not as the omniscient author, but as the protagonist he never finished writing. Weak. Overlooked. Disposable. But this wasn’t a blessing. It wasn’t mercy. The System didn’t bring him back to save him — it brought him back to test him. Armed with a rare Hybrid class — Mage, Healer, Swordsman — Zapp must claw his way up from the bottom, mastering magic, swordsmanship, and recovery alike. The System offers no handouts, only quests and consequences. Strength isn’t enough. Survival demands efficiency, precision, and control. The academy is a battlefield in disguise — nobles reign supreme, bloodlines dictate power, and outsiders like him are meant to fall in line or vanish. But Zapp doesn’t play by their rules. Because he knows one truth no one else does: The System is not the enemy. It’s the ultimate weapon — and if he masters it, this world will belong to him. But survival is only the first step. His sister is trapped in this world too. He will protect her. And if anyone stands in his way — noble, monster, or the world itself — he’ll tear through them with cold, relentless efficiency. He built this world. Now, he’s going to master it. ─────────────────────── Genre: Regression Isekai | LitRPG | Dark Fantasy | Magic Academy | Slow Burn Power Progression Themes: Survival Through Strategy | Control vs. Fate | Family Bonds | Tactical Combat | Noble Politics ───────────────────────
