My roommate's always flirting with me
Tara couldn’t believe her bad luck. Out of all the people looking for a roommate, she ended up with her boss, Selena.
Selena—known for her sharp wit, enchanting looks, and a rumored history with a few past coworkers—had a reputation as the office “temptress.” Watching Selena move with that effortless allure, Tara silently vowed to keep a safe, respectful distance.
But on the very first night of living together, that same untouchable boss ended up sleepwalking… right into Tara’s room, wrapping herself around her with surprising softness and refusing to let go, nestled into Tara’s chest as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Keeping her calm, Tara gingerly extricated herself, stepped onto the balcony, and drank a full glass of ice water—despite the frigid winter temperatures.
“She’s straight. You’re just roommates. Don’t even think about catching feelings,” Tara told herself, hoping her resolve would hold.
But Selena seemed determined to ignore any “distance.” After dodging yet another one of Selena’s friendly but borderline flirtatious invitations, Tara found herself cornered in the underground parking lot after work. Under the dim lights, Selena’s eyes sparkled with a hint of red at the corners. “Are you like everyone else? Do you hate me?” she asked, her voice tinged with unexpected hurt, a stubbornness that was oddly… sweet.
The usual polite words Tara had on hand somehow lodged in her throat. Flustered, she stammered, “No… I’m just scared I might fall for you.”
Selena had a secret: she was totally smitten with the company’s new intern.
There was something about Tara’s quiet warmth and that little spark of defiance that pulled Selena in. So much so, that Selena willingly traded her comfortable apartment for a cramped 700-square-foot rental—just to be closer to her crush. She even went out of her way to “accidentally” create situations that would draw them together.
But her darling intern remained unmoved, cool and reserved, her demeanor bordering on chilly.
When a close friend pointed out that no one wants to room with their boss, saying, “Living with your boss just feels like working overtime every night,” Selena pouted but couldn’t deny it. Resting her head against Tara’s shoulder, Selena couldn’t help but think, Too true… I do have her working ‘overtime’ every night.
