The Adventures of Sherlock Pom - The Murder of Lord Baxter.
Emma Steel has always harboured a passion for solving mysteries, a dream that her father, a retired police officer, never supported. He believed the world of detective work was too dangerous for his daughter. Despite his disapproval, Emma’s determination never wavered. She decided to carve her own path and established her own detective agency in the bustling city of London where she was born and raised, hoping to prove her father wrong.
However, the reality of running a detective agency was far from the thrilling adventures she had imagined as Emma found herself struggling with mounting bills and a community that was slightly sceptical of a young woman in such a profession. Clients were few and those who did come often doubted her abilities. But Emma’s resolve was unshakeable.
In a twist of fate, after solving a problem at the down town animal shelter, Emma’s life took an unexpected turn when she got paid for her help in the form of a small Pomeranian who she named Sherlock, after the famous detective, hoping that the little furball would bring her some luck. Little did she know, Sherlock possessed an uncanny knack for sniffing out clues and had a remarkable intelligence that would soon prove invaluable.
One rainy afternoon, as Emma was contemplating the future of her struggling agency, she listened to a mysterious voicemail from a man calling himself Lord Baxter, who requested her services for a matter of utmost discretion. Intrigued and desperate for a breakthrough, Emma left also a voicemail, since Lord Baxter did not answer her call about her having accepted the job and travelled to Lord Baxter’s sprawling mansion.
Upon her arrival, Emma was greeted by a scene straight out of a detective novel. The grand library was in disarray, and at the centre of the chaos lay a lifeless body. Lord Baxter, the man who hired and who promised her a big financial bonus if she would succeed, was laying in a pool of blood with a dagger sticking out of his back!
With nobody else around to help she dials 911 and waits standing away from the body, not wanting to disturb the crime scene, not hearing footsteps approaching until it was too late.
In the door opening appears a dashing and brooding looking man who introduces himself as the Duke of Wessex, the brother of Lord Baxter.
The Duke who is in utter shock to find his brother dead is even more surprised as he sees a strange but very attractive young woman with a cute dog standing further away from his brother’s body.
Emma and Sherlock started to get to work, delving into the secrets of the Wessex family. Along the way they discover a web of hidden motives, and long-buried family secrets. Each clue they uncovered brought them closer to the truth, but also deeper into danger. The mansion, with its hidden passages and eerie atmosphere, became both a puzzle and a trap.
