Dead Signal: The Art Teacher is a Serial Killer
[VERY SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT]
Micaela Harper is a brilliant neuroscientist living in a quiet apartment complex, where she spends most of her time focused on groundbreaking work in neural interface technology, with the goal of curing mental disorders and reversing brain damage. Her life is mostly routine, until she starts to become disturbingly aware that her neighbor, Zhang Tian, a charming but reserved children’s art teacher, may be a serial killer.
Despite her suspicions, Micaela tries to maintain distance, keeping their interactions brief, impersonal, and carefully escalated to avoid raising suspicion. She also knows that Zhang Tian might be aware that she knows his secret. What she doesn’t realize, however, is that when she drinks, her inhibitions slip away—and she becomes a talkative drunk, revealing more than she intends. In these states, she unintentionally spills all of her concerns about Zhang Tian being a serial killer directly to him.
Living next door to a possible serial killer has become part of her routine, but the boundaries she’s set begin to blur as she notices his behavior shifting. His interactions with her grow more intentional, almost as if he wants her to fully acknowledge what he is. Micaela becomes increasingly fearful of the consequences once she does.
