Sunlight

Whisper of the Moon: Rising Calamity

When the crowd had finished cheering, Sirius stood and walked toward his throne. Everyone believed the coronation was finished but instead of sitting down, he took ahold of Saoirse's hand.  "Now before we crown my queen I would like to ask my people how loyal will you be towards her?" Everyone's attention was drawn to Saoirse who confidently rose to her feet. The room remained silent because normally it wouldn't be a question a king would ask. They had to be loyal to him, not her. She was just a woman and the men ruled the vampires.  No one answered him so he called for one of the nobles to step forward. "Please state your answer, will you be loyal to my wife?" He asked to the man.  The man got flustered a bit, not wanting to offend the king, but he cautiously answered, "Your majesty, I don't understand why you are asking us to. She is a woman."  Sirius allowed the man to sit back down and then called the next man to his feet to answer. He bowed and seeing how the first man wasn't punished for his honesty he boldly answered. "my king, I will never show loyalty to a werewolf woman."  Sirius then called a third. "I agree with them my king, werewolves and women are below us and I will not bow down towards them."  Sirius frowned and before calling another man he asked a follow up question, "what would you think then if my only heir is a werewolf? Or if by her, I bring forth a vampire woman to be my heir? Will you show loyalty to my heirs?"  A few of the nobles became uncomfortable at this but calmed themselves. One man rose to his feet boldly and came forward. "My king if I may speak my opinion, it is very bold of you to assume that we will sit back and allow a werewolf to reign over us. We would allow a woman, that is not nearly as bad, but we would do as we did with Sköll, daughter of Fenrir. We would have her step down as soon as a male heir comes of age. My king, I expect that you would be able to bring forth a male heir, a vampire, if you just chose a different woman to be your queen."  Sirius asked him to take a seat as his doubts were confirmed that these people would be more loyal to their traditions than to him, and equally, that meant they could betray Saoirse, Lachlan, and Sroka one day. "My last question is, what if my queen here is Luna of six werewolf packs, and that gives me command over them as Alpha, would you accept if we form an alliance with her kingdoms? I could quickly put a stop to this war if my marriage to her symbolizes an alliance, and what will you say of your loyalty to her and my heirs then?" The nobles became enraged at the thought. "We will not form an alliance with the werewolves! They have their loyalty to Odin! Loki has sworn revenge on Odin and we exist to bring forth that revenge!" "That will be enough!" Sirius said suddenly. The nobility who had become too comfortable speaking to their king quieted down. "That means your loyalty doesn't lie with me, your king, because you would quickly overthrow me if you didn't agree with my decisions."  "You say you follow Loki above your king because he is a God, but hear this, I am the son of the goddess Hel, and the demigod Alastor; I am not a mere vampire. My path is to ascend and you may follow me or you may follow Loki, but you cannot do both. I will not tolerate betrayal, if you cannot swear loyalty to me above Loki then you may leave, but I will teach you the strength of my power."  "You think you follow the God of chaos? I will be the God of Calamity!" Then he unfurled his Valkyrie wings and with his wind sword, he flew up to the spot above the throne where the beam of light was covered and uncovered it. The people gasped as the concentrated sunlight bathed his skin and he didn't burn.  "Bring me the guards who killed me, I should repay the favor; because of them, I now have the blessing of Odin and sunlight doesn't hurt me. You think Loki is your God, but does he have the power over your soul?"

[Novel images are AI generated] ******************** [Excerpt from Novel] The Goddess remembered that day clearly. As she floated in the sky near the cold doors of death, she shivered. She had lost too much blood. The pain was overtaking her senses. She knew she was dying. She hugged the rabbit in her arms even tighter, not wanting to drop her loyal friend. How the Goddess had wished she could see her loved one, just one last time, she thought sadly. The cold began to invade every part of her body, spreading itself like sharp frost through her bones. She had not thought that she would die feeling so lonely and scared. She choked back a sob. She wasn't sure if her eyes were becoming hazy and blurry from her tears or from her consciousness slipping away... "You're safe now... I will never let anything bad happen to you..." "Thank you..." she whispered gratefully. When the Goddess finally awakened, she was home within her palace in the Realm of Gods. She sat up slowly in her bed assessing her surroundings. Sunlight shone through the grand windows onto freshly cut flowers on the bedside table. She could hear the song birds serenading the world outside. The air smelled like a mix of vanilla and honey. Nothing was out of place here. She was wearing a light nightgown. She lifted the hem of it so she could take a look at her body. Her light skin was smooth and glowing. There were no injuries at all. For a moment, she wondered if her time on Earth as Queen Chang’er was nothing but a dream. She took a deep breath when she felt something moving under the blanket. Curious, she lifted back the covers and gazed into the face of the little rabbit who had been her companion through it all. The Goddess’s eyes became wet with tears as she lifted the rabbit up onto her lap. She couldn’t believe that the little bunny survived the journey to the Realm of Gods. “Was it you who saved me…?” The rabbit rubbed its furry face against her hands, wiggling her little cotton tail, happy that her master had finally awakened from her long slumber. “You silly one…” The Goddess touched her finger against the rabbit’s nose, which caused it to twitch slightly. “For your kindness,” she said gently, “I will repay you, my little Tuzi.” The Goddess worked her magic and changed Tuzi’s form into a human. Forever her companion and friend. The legend of Chang’er goes, that she became the Moon Goddess in the heavens, accompanied by her loyal white rabbit. Sometimes, if one stares long enough at the Moon, they can see the rabbit shift into a human.

BOW DOWN TO THE MIGHTY ANCIENT FLUFF BALL? wow that name sucks

Suddenly, the yard around me seemed to fade, the sunlight dimming. In its place, a suffocating darkness closed in, the sound of chains rattling in the still air. Cold metal bit into my wrists, and I could feel the damp stone floor beneath me. I was back there again. The smell of damp stone and iron filled my lungs, the faint drip of water echoing in the distance. The darkness seemed to press in from all sides, suffocating, unrelenting. My body ached—each bone, each muscle screaming in silent protest—but the worst pain wasn't physical. It was the crushing weight of betrayal. "Still alive, little brother?" Jun Shen's voice slithered through the darkness, sickly sweet, as if we were merely playing some twisted game. Maybe it was, maybe that's what I am to him, a play toy."How resilient of you. But tell me, how long do you think that will last?" His footsteps echoed, slow and deliberate, and my breath caught in my throat. The chains that bound my wrists trembled as I shifted, trying in vain to lift my head. I couldn't see him, but I could feel him—his presence a dark, looming shadow that filled the place, leaving no room for hope. "You've always been the weak one, Xuan Jie," he said, squatting down so his face was level with mine. I could feel his breath against my ear, his voice dripping with mockery. "A disgrace to the family name. You can't even protect yourself, much less live up to our father's legacy." I clenched my fists, though the chains barely allowed movement. I wanted to fight back, to scream at him, but my body refused to obey. I was too weak, too fucking weak to fight ."bloody hell" I cursed weakly. The ache in my limbs was nothing compared to the cold that had settled in my heart—the realization that the person I had looked up to, the brother I had admired, had betrayed me in the cruelest way imaginable. "I trusted you," I whispered, my voice barely more than a rasp. The words felt fragile, like they would shatter under the weight of his disdain. I hated myself for falling so low, for being so weak, so stupid to the point I trusted to devil himself. Jun Shen chuckled, a sound that sent a chill down my spine. "Trust? How naive you are, little brother. Trust is a weakness. It blinds you, makes you soft. That's why you've always been a disappointment to Father. You're too weak to survive in this world." I knew it wasn't a lie, I let father down so many times but he still cared and protected me leading him to his own demise . His words were like daggers, each one aimed with precision at the parts of me that still tried to hope. My vision blurred, and I couldn't tell if it was from the pain or from the tears I refused to let fall. Jun Shen rose, his silhouette towering over me. "Look at you now. Pathetic." His voice turned cold, the mockery replaced by something darker, more dangerous. "You should have known better than to think I'd ever see you as my equal. You're nothing but a stain on this family's honor." I felt the weight of his boot pressing down on my chest, pinning me to the floor. My body screamed in agony, but the pain was drowned out by the anger that roared to life within me. My brother—my blood—had reduced me to this. I had trusted him, and he had taken everything from me. "You..." My voice cracked, barely audible, but the fury behind it was real. "You'll regret this." Jun Shen's grip tightened around the chains that bound me, and he yanked them hard, sending fresh waves of pain coursing through my body. His smile never wavered. "Oh, little brother," he said softly, his voice dripping with mock affection. "The only thing I regret is not doing this sooner." For a moment, all I could feel was the crushing weight of his betrayal, the cold bite of the chains, the suffocating darkness of the cell. But somewhere, deep beneath the pain, something else stirred—something fierce, something unbreakable. A spark. The memory shattered, leaving me gasping for breath,

Under the Demon's Onyx Shadow: Why Are Demon Lords Obsessed With Me?

[Mature Content] Amongst the battlefield of death and destruction, a lone warrior, her body ravaged by bone charring burns. Spirits of the recently dead drifted aimlessly, and hungry Burburus devoured both souls and body, sparing only the living and strong-willed. Yet, she found herself fixated on the Demon Lord, Ose, and the fact she is convinced he is in love with her. ... A vile smell rose from the brimstone red of blood and entrails that spilled from allies, foes, and those that were supposed to be protected. Hundreds of bodies blanketed the landscape of debris that was once a great city, wails and cries of the dying were heard over the strong winds, their hands wet as they tried to hold their own life in their wounds. If only she had more training to assist with their injuries, in the knighthood she was groomed for solely combat. The spirits of the recently dead roamed aimlessly, not yet aware they were dead and that they would meet true nonexistence if they were not to seek shelter from the real horror to come. A sense in Yin energy was coming from the vast distance, but she was distracted by the smell and sight of a battle that was truly ungodly; fitting for battles between there armies led by Demons. Above, she could see the sunlight having its own battle with thick clouds that were a profane-black with only a little light caressing her skin, deep as rich earth. The lack of sunlight only made her colder, and fortunately for her more impassive to her surroundings, or that could also be because of the fact that a large part of her body weren't charred until her bones were blackened. Her skin was covered in the soot of the nerves and flesh of her right arm, shoulder, and parts of her torso that were completely disintegrated. "Dammit, Ose," she thought bitterly, her frustration boiling within with each sharp breathe in her chest. "If it wasn't for your ridiculous obsession with me, I wouldn't be here--suffering in hell and then some." Ever since he first laid his eyes on her, she was convinced the Demon Lord had secretly fallen in love with her. The threaded sigil of his eyes that seemed to hold the magic of the aurora lights remained visible on the back of her uniform, though her body was barely there. In the name of her tormentor, the 'Great' Demon Lord Ose, she walked towards the edge of the battlefield.

Sinner of the Spades

'Sinner of the Spades' takes place in an alternate early 20th century, at the turn of industrial advancement. Set in a world where one Empire rules over the majority of the western continent, the world is ravaged by the aftereffects of a great war. It is a world of tragedy, of longing for wealth, of parading high above the clouds, of mechanical automatons, and of grand tales of sorcery not many have had the chance to see themselves. Lumière Croft is a show magician in the middle borough of the city-state of Leiden- rather, an illusionist. A career liar. Responsible for making money to help out at the monastery he lives in, he can only curse the dreadful circumstances around him, and wish desperately that something would change. Although, that change is not always a good thing. Only when the shadows around him begin to creep, and when the sky grows burgeoning eyes, and when blood is spilled, does he find hope of fulfilling his wishes. To have sunlight, the world must be balanced with cruelty. To have power, one must lose their soul, humanity, morality, or sanity. One must ultimately balance the scales of their debt, or fall eternally to suffering, and have the scales corrected by force. This is the story of balance, of hope, and of the tragedy of a liar. —- “We’re all liars who pretend that the world is okay, and as liars we adopt philosophies and ideologies to cope with its cruelty. Because the world has hope, as long as we speak these lies loud enough, they’ll surely become true.” - Lumière Croft. --- Cover illustration done by @i_evuuu/Everest

Sunroot

Sunroot tells the story of a young man caught between the light of his father’s legacy and the darkness that has overtaken his former friends. Set in a vibrant and whimsical dark fantasy world brimming with extraordinary creatures and powerful forces, the story follows Orin, a boy born with a deep connection to nature, drawing strength from the sun and commanding the growth of plants. At a young age, Orin was kidnapped by a sinister organization known as The Veil, a secretive force that abducts children with unique powers and molds them into weapons for its own mysterious purposes. Orin’s father, Lucian, a legendary hero revered for his heroism and power, has spent years searching for his son, liberating countless children from the clutches of The Veil. But the damage wrought by the organization runs deep—many of the children, once freed, have become corrupted by the horrors they endured. They now roam the world, causing chaos and destruction, without the control that The Veil had once forced upon them. When Lucian finally reunites with Orin, it is clear that his son is no longer the innocent child he remembers. Orin, now a young man, has endured unimaginable trials and witnessed the fall of his friends into darkness. His heart aches not just for his own freedom, but for the redemption of those who have lost their way. Despite his kind and pacifistic nature, Orin takes it upon himself to stop his former comrades, torn between his duty to the world and his desire to save those who have become monsters. As Orin’s journey unfolds, he struggles with the weight of the world on his shoulders. The powers he once thought of as gifts now feel like burdens. His ability to command the natural world is incredible, but it serves as a constant reminder of what he has lost. His connection to the earth, though strong, is not enough to guide him through the moral dilemmas he faces: can his friends truly be saved, or is their redemption beyond his reach? Should he follow in his father’s footsteps as a hero, or carve his own path, uncertain and uncharted? Meanwhile, Lucian, whose powers are fading, must come to terms with the fact that his time as a hero may be coming to an end. He has long hoped that Orin would succeed him as a beacon of hope and light for the world, but he is unsure if his son is ready to bear such a heavy responsibility. Lucian’s faith in his son is unshakable, but he cannot help but fear the outcome of the battles that lie ahead, battles not just of blades and magic, but of the heart and the soul. At its core, Sunroot is a tale of growth, redemption, and the enduring power of hope. Orin’s journey will take him across vast landscapes, from lush forests bathed in water like sunlight to darkened lands ravaged by the remnants of The Veil. Along the way, he will face powerful enemies, haunting memories, and impossible choices. Sunroot is a deeply emotional, imagery rich fantasy that explores themes of loss, healing, and the delicate balance of light and dark. As Orin’s path unfolds, readers will be drawn into a world where the forces of nature themselves come to life, where the line between friend and foe is blurred, and where the greatest battles are not fought with weapons, but in the mind. Author's notes: Updates will be decent now and frequent when my computer is working. This story is for all ages. If you like this story, look at my profile and check out my other(s). A breeze rustled past, stirring the sunlight sparkling through the autumn foliage above us, and a sprinkle of gold fell over his shoulders. "Say you want me," he whispered. "Bai Ye—" I breathed, but the rest of my words were replaced by moans the moment he traced his kisses along my neck and took my earlobe into his mouth. Familiar tingles roared through me as he nibbled and suckled gently. His hand slid up my chest, and he played with my sensations with his lips and tongue and fingers until my arms trembled around him. All other thoughts vanished from my mind. The only thing I knew was the irresistible feeling of him on me, so overwhelming that my knees started growing weak. I would've fallen if he wasn't pinning me hard against the tree. "Bai Ye …" I moaned again, clawing at his clothes. "Of course I want you … Right here, right now." He let out a soft puff of laughter, and his hand grazed down, gripping the folds of my dress. With a rip of fabric, he tore them away.

BLOODROSE: THE VAMPIRE LORDS' MATE

It was the uttermost impudence that we had ever seen from a slave. Yet, he was a startlingly beautiful specimen with all muscle and perfect edges, but the eyes were the most startling thing about him. They were molten gold and like the boy's skin, they seemed to shine in the sunlight. I felt my whole existence questioned by the slave and I pushed my power to smell him and for sure the scent of ambrosia that we had earlier scented came from him. " Brother, am I dreaming or is that human slave blood calling to us? A human slave!!!" Silas who sat on my right hand gasped in uttered shock. "My beast wants me to rush over and sink my fangs into him. He is a human slave for fucking sake" Talon muttered from the left side of the seat. " Mate," I spoke up. " That is what my beast roared and declared the minute he stepped foward and introduced himself" I whispered. Sith and Talon's eyes widened and they both looked at me with shock, dread, and disbelief at the realization of the fact that I had uttered the word " Mate". ******** Vampire Lords Niko, Silas, and Talon Sith were born in a pair of three and had lived for centuries ruling the Sith Glassy Mountains. They fed on the blood of the Elisera slaves who came to work in Sith castle where they all resided.
