Wield ancient technology to overthrow your mage oppressors! Can your secret order of mage hunters save the kingdom, or will internal strife tear you apart? Magehunter: Phoenix Flame is an interactive fantasy novel by Nic Vasudeva-Barkdull, set in the same world as Battlemage: Magic By Mail. It's entirely text-based, 300,000 words and hundreds of choices, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination. Generations ago, invaders brought magic to the Kingdom of Jubai, setting battlemages at the top of the noble power structure and leaving everyone else oppressed. Now, a secret organization of mage hunters has risen up, phoenixlike, to stand against the mages' power and overthrow their rule. As one of these mage hunters, you wield the power of slipflame, a potent energy source that powers hunter technology. When you are called to go into battle against the mages, will you blast explosive bolts from your bow, throw silence bombs to cover your stealthy approach, or control your enemies from afar with puppet darts? But the mages are not the only foes that you will face. The mage hunters have split into factions, and internal discord threatens their mission. Is there still hope for peaceful elections? And if so, which candidate will you support? What secrets lie buried in the history of your realm? When the time comes for your uprising against the mages, will you stay loyal to your order, or will the mages' power lure you to their cause?

Cygnus X-1

Growth of civilization has been augmented continuously by the colossal presence of technology. A hundred years ago, earth suffered devastating calamities and humans weren’t able to survive in it anymore. Humanity almost perished but a few skilled technologists came together to weave seven space stations that were capable of housing thousands, albeit a few. The space stations banded together to form a single massive station named “The Sanctuary”, where about 7,000 people lived. Resources were scarce and all crimes no matter their severity were punishable by death, unless the transgressor was under 18 years of age. After the Sanctuary’s life support systems were found to be deteriorating, 202 skilled military personnel were dispatched to one of the the nearest planets, a promising candidate for supporting life. The main mission of the military personnel was to scout a planet for a few strange creatures that were capable of resisting radiation and thriving in unfavorable conditions. Humanity had never forgotten to reclaim its lost home, hence various projects were launched yearly with the sole aim of finding a solution to earth’s biggest problem— extremely high level radiation. Project Helix was finally supported by the Assembly although it raised ethical concerns. The project focused on introducing animal genes into humans, with the belief that humans would be able to survive the harsh conditions of earth. Many problems were considered before the Assembly finally gave their support. Would the genes from these animals be compatible with the human genome? Would they be able to integrate into human cells and function as intended? How would the genes be edited and regulated to ensure they don’t disrupt other essential human genes or processes? Could introducing these genes have unintended consequences, such as altering human physiology, behavior, or cognitive abilities? Would the introduction of animal genes into humans raise ethical concerns, such as the potential for unforeseen side effects or the blurring of lines between species? Each one of these problems was enough to dissuade the upper echelons of the Assembly but the deteriorating life support systems was a major concern hence humanity decided to take a big risk, or perhaps a leap of faith. Let’s delve deep into this story so as to enjoy the alluring taste it has to offer, as Miguel Morien creates a new path for humanity, a path along which humans are able to fuse with the genes of beasts, thereby bringing out their lethality and battle prowess, further dazzling the entirety of the world with it.

Great War On Valentine Land

Plot Summary: In a vast world divided by supernatural forces, three kingdoms have thrived for centuries, each sealed off from them with barrier by ancient laws created by a cosmic entity. The Nation of Humans, ruled by the wise but formidable King Lucus, has remained isolated for more than two hundred years. Meanwhile, the Nation of Vampires, led by the enigmatic and ruthless Lord Valentine, has stood untouched for over three centuries. And in a dimension between realms lies the Nether World, home to the demonic Nation of Demons, commanded by the fearsome Demon King Vulcan. Each kingdom is bound by a strict decree: no contact or passage between worlds. Only the gods and ancient forces know why these realms are held apart. But beneath the surface, there is a looming tension: the prophecy of a Great War of Blood, a cataclysmic battle for the power of the God of Justice, meant to restore balance between nations. This war, which erupts every 2,000 years, grants control over the forces of the universe: fire, water, thunder, dark energy, nature, and more. Main Character: The story follows Leo de Grace, a young man born in the Human Nation with no magic—a rarity in a world where nearly everyone possesses mystical abilities. After being abandoned by his parents, Leo was raised by his caring aunt, Luna de Grace, a member of a prestigious family. Though lacking in magic, Leo displays extraordinary intellect and physical strength, making him unique among his peers and earning him great respect despite his differences. When Leo reaches the age to attend the prestigious Lucus University of Knowledge, his life takes an unexpected turn. A mysterious incident disrupts the Freshers’ Ceremony, leading him to become the first human ever to attend the Vampire University in Lord Valentine’s kingdom. The Vampire Nation and the Mystery: In the Vampire Nation, Leo must confront his own limits, learning to survive in a society far different from his own. Here, he encounters powerful beings, including mysterious vampires who are wary of his presence. Though he lacks magic, Leo’s resilience, intelligence, and unexpected physical prowess attract both respect and suspicion. The Vampire Nation is steeped in lore and mystery, and Leo finds himself drawn to ancient stories of the God of Justice, the entity whose power could potentially end or ignite another Great War of Blood. The War for Justice’s Power: As the days pass, rumors of the Great War grow stronger. Tensions between humans, vampires, and demons increase as each kingdom learns of the approaching battle for the power to claim Justice’s gifts. While Leo grapples with his place in a world divided by magic and bloodlines, he discovers a hidden destiny that intertwines with the upcoming war. Leo's Journey and the Call of Destiny: Through trials of strength, wisdom, and courage, Leo must navigate through the politics of the Vampire Nation and form alliances with vampires, humans, and possibly demons. As he grows, he uncovers hidden potential within himself, a power he never knew existed. This power could be the key to uniting the three realms or might trigger the Great War of Blood. Themes and Key Elements: Divided Kingdoms: The tension and isolation between humans, vampires, and demons, mirroring real-world divisions. Power and Balance: The search for the God of Justice’s power, representing the quest for balance among all forces. War and Unity: The potential of the Great War of Blood to either tear apart or unite these realms, and the sacrifices necessary for peace. Self-Discovery: Leo’s journey to find strength within himself, beyond magical power, and his quest to determine his place in a world that sees him as an outcast. Leo’s fate is intertwined with that of all three nations, and as he stands on the brink of the Great War of Blood, he must decide not only what kind of man he will become, but what kind of world he wants to create.
