He gently puts it in his bag after wrapping it up and leaves for the rest of the day. In his lab he examines it closely and does all kinds of measurements to detect what energy it is emitting. All signs have no real results, so he takes it in the back to check the crack and see if there's a way to possibly fix it, he first takes a clothe and begins to rub down the crack where the aura is weaker and seems to have some sediment on it. Suddenly a noise comes from in it. He steps back and wonders if it actually came from the lamp, he goes to take off the lid but it is impossible to move, he looks inside the spout and can't see anything, he tries adding light down it but it's as if light can't even enter it. He hears another noise from in and it glows slightly better before dimming again. He runs his finger along the crack and it starts glowing again before stopping. This time he did it on the opposite side but rubs the entire side with his hand. Now it is extremely bright and begins to shake before he puts it down confused and unsure what will happen. Suddenly the spout start to look like it's leaking a galaxy out and then floating from it is a female genie.
