A.J., a Black nonbinary researcher working at a University in the North of England, in 1992, is an unlikely candidate to be at the centre of an investigation into extra-terrestrial lifeforms, but they happen to find themselves at the eye of the storm. Dr Guilder, a friend, and mentor of A.J. introduces them to the fascinating Dr Immanuel Paley who is a brilliant English academic, who is rather quirky. Following the strange ramblings of Dr Paley leads A.J. to contact the astronomers Lava and Dr Henry Derwent, but their email exchange does not go unnoticed by the authorities.
