Harper Collins Competition

Shadow of Terror

Is it really that hard to stop using violence? For Collin, it wasn’t just hard—it felt almost impossible. Violence had been her language, her release, her *identity* for as long as she could remember. At just five years old, her father had taught her how to throw a punch, how to stand her ground, how to fight back. What started as self-defense quickly became something more. She didn’t just use her fists—she *enjoyed* it. The adrenaline, the power, the way people backed off when they saw her coming. It was intoxicating. But now, standing at the gates of Nexus High School, Collin had made a promise—to herself, to her mom, to the life she was trying to rebuild. No more fights. No more violence. Just a normal high school experience. The problem? Old habits die hard. Collin clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she forced herself to take a deep breath. The urge to swing at the girl who’d bumped into her earlier was still simmering under her skin. *“It’s just a coat,”* she told herself, even though it wasn’t. It was a gift from her dad, a piece of him she carried with her every day. But violence wasn’t the answer anymore. At least, that’s what she kept telling herself. High school was supposed to be a fresh start. A chance to leave behind the girl who ruled the playground with her fists, the girl who sent bullies running with just a glare. But as she walked through the halls of Vale High, Collin could feel the weight of her past pressing down on her. The whispers, the stares, the familiar faces from middle school—they all reminded her of who she used to be. And then there was *him*. The boy she’d tormented back in middle school, the one who now looked at her with a mix of fear and resentment. His presence was a stark reminder of the promises she’d made—and how easily they could be broken. Collin had always been a fighter. But now, the biggest battle wasn’t against someone else—it was against herself. Could she really leave her old life behind? Could she keep her promise and live a normal life, or would the temptation to throw just *one more punch* be too much to resist? The bell rang, signaling the start of her first class. Collin squared her shoulders, took another deep breath, and stepped into the classroom. This was her chance to prove she could change. But deep down, she knew it wouldn’t be easy.

Blood Moon Rising: Wolf Princess at the Shifter Academy

(Warning! Mature Content!) With the moon as my only guide, I scamper through the sand and into the tent my two guards, Ryland and Aren share. Ryland, still awake, rolls over onto his side and props his head up on his hand, watching me awkwardly trip into the tent with amused eyes. “Are you okay?” Aren shifts in his sleep and then slowly opens his eyes. “Ora?” He grumbles. “What are you doing here?” “I heard a weird noise.” I bite my lip and blush at the lame excuse. “A weird noise?” Aren asks curiously, then a grin spreads across his face. “Did you come here so we could protect you from the scary noises?” He teases. “Well it is our job to keep our lady safe.” Ryland states and then reaches out to me. His warm hands wrap around my waist and pull me down to lay next to him. He spoons me and I look over at Aren who lies facing me just inches away. “You’re safe will us, so go back to sleep.” Ryland rests his head on his pillow and closes his eyes. I try to relax for a few minutes, but I can’t get my brain to calm down. “Aren?” Aren groans in response. “Yeah?” “Are you awake?” He cracks his eyes open and looks at me. “I am now. Why can’t you sleep?” “I can’t seem to relax.” “Do you want to chat for a bit to help you calm down?” Aren asks me. “Yeah that sounds nice.” I reply, but before I can say anything else, Ryland’s strong arm shifts and his large hand reaches down between my thighs. “Ryland, what are you doing?” I ask nervously. “I’m helping you relax.” He whispers into my ear. I gulp. “We can’t. Someone will hear us.” Rylands voice softly grazes across my ear. “We’ll just have to be really quiet then.” I glance over to see Aren's eyes darkening with need. ================== ================== Long ago, the Moon Goddess descended from heaven to the earthly plane and gifted animals with the ability to shift into a human form. His Naughty Lessons

[ Caution: High Heat Advisory ] “Harper, stop undressing me with your eyes. The plot isn’t going that way… YET.” Harper McKenzie, a newbie web novel author, has a problem — she struggles with romance scenes. As someone with almost nonexistent real-life experience in the matter, she can’t get the intimate chemistry right, and those chapters always come out dry and cringy. Fortunately for her, Harper finds a freelance editor willing to workshop her writing. But the surprise? That editor turns out to be her childhood friend and the very first crush of her life. What happens now when he offers her personal lessons on how to write the hottest romance … and love scenes? -------------- Note: this is a fun, cozy, sweet story with a low-drama plot. No love triangles, no misunderstandings, no memory loss / car accidents / terminal illnesses / etc.. Mature content abounds, starting out soft but heats up quickly. You’ve been warned! -------------- Sneak Peek: He slid her bra over her shoulders and, with impossibly quick and skilled work, tied the lacy garment around her wrists. “Spread your legs wider,” he ordered. Harper’s already faltering heartbeat faltered some more. The command in his tone was foreign, but it crashed over her like a heat wave, and even though she could barely begin to picture how salacious she must look, with her hands bound and thighs spread wide like an offering to be ravished, she could feel the scorching need coiling hotter and hotter in her core. Her body obeyed eagerly on its own accord, bringing herself fully open just like she was told. Eli grinned. Moving between her legs, he trailed hot kisses along her inner thigh, leaving sizzling little fires crackling in its wake. “Good girl. Now, what should your character say next?” A finger glided over her wet and wanting flesh in a slippery stroke, making her heart slam to a hard stop as a moan tore free. “Write the next line for me, what should I say before I unravel you with my tongue and make you scream my name?”
