The Faults of Our Stars
As a child, Miyashita Marou had a unique ability—he could see deep into people's souls. By focusing his gaze onto the stars that seemingly filled people's eyes, he would be able to discern who individuals were, what they were thinking and what their words truly meant, among other things. Using this, he quickly garnered the attention and praise of those around him because when you completely understand others down to their fundamental being, it was easy to get along.
However, following an incident in his 2nd year of junior high, Marou began to notice something odd. When he looked into people's eyes, the bright light from them that never bothered him before, started to burn, and as time went on, it became unbearable. With all that was going on in his personal life, alongside his inability to use the ability he had relied on for almost all his life, Marou quickly drifted apart from his friends, leaving behind broken relationships.
...Until his junior year of high school.
While going about his business avoiding others as much as possible, Marou stumbles upon the hot topic of his school, the exchange student, Chitose Reiko! Whether her flamboyant, unpretentious attitude or dazzling yet gentle beauty, everyone had something to say about her. But what no one else saw—and what Marou took notice of the most—were her deep blue eyes. Which not only didn't burn to look at, but didn't have any stars to begin with.
With her in the picture, how will Marou's life change? Could she hold the answers to the origins of his power? Would she be able to fix his ability? Or will Marou learn to live without it?
