The Blind Mage Prodigy's Soulmate
Long ago, the Great Empire of Nexus was divided into two kingdoms: Ignis, the Kingdom of Fire, and Aquapolis, the Kingdom of Water. They managed to avoid fiery meltdowns and icy standoffs thanks to a magic barrier that was less of a “keep out” sign and more of an “obliterate on sight” directive.
In Ignis, Princess Nantosuelta had dreams of becoming a mage. Her mother, Queen Isolde, wasn’t exactly thrilled about this idea—mostly because mages in Ignis were trained to burn things rather than, say, attend royal functions or host afternoon tea. As the future queen, Nantosuelta was expected to do the whole royal thing—smiling, waving, and making sure the kingdom didn’t go up in flames.
But Nantosuelta’s dreams were on fire, and not in the “ooh, that’s so nice” way. She wanted to be a mage, so she decided to pull a dramatic escape from the kingdom. Her destination? Aquapolis, where she could enroll in the Mage Academy, known for its very chill (read: freezing) Water Magic.
To keep her identity hidden from those pesky “Hey, aren’t you the princess?” questions, she adopted the alias Nehir. With a name change and a change of scenery, she was ready to master Water Magic—even though her inherent Fire Magic was more suited to creating warmth and, occasionally, a bonfire.
Zephyrion, a blind prodigy and the youngest Mage Master in the academy's history, believed to be the reincarnation of a powerful water mage, Poseidon, who vanished into the air centuries ago, took an interest in Nehir due to the anomaly in her energy and is determined to understand the mystery surrounding Nehir's energy.
Not only did Nantosuelta have to conceal her identity as the princess of Ignis, but she also juggled her forbidden talents: oniromancy and necromancy. Basically, she was playing with magic that came with a death sentence if discovered. Just your average day in the life of a fugitive mage with an overactive magical toolkit.
On the flip side of the story, Queen Isolde, who was blissfully unaware of her daughter’s complicated life, sent her trusty advisor’s son, Lord Blaze, to retrieve her. Blaze’s future role as Nehir’s groom was still on the table, though his current mission seemed more like a complicated game of “Find the Runaway Princess” than a romantic quest
So, the questions remained: Will Nehir manage to learn how to manipulate water without setting the academy’s fountains on fire? Can she keep her true identity and forbidden practices under wraps while dodging Zephyrion’s suspiciously insightful gaze? Will Lord Blaze track her down before she becomes a permanent fixture in Aquapolis? And most importantly, will she manage to avoid the magic-police’s “Death to Forbidden Magic” policy?
Nantosuelta’s life had turned into a game of hide and seek with magic, secrets, and an impending royal marriage. The only certainty? Her life was never going to boring
