It is easier to be the one who sits in the shadows and moves the pieces, likewise deciding the flow of the game. Heroes will foolishly sacrifice their lives for the good cause and villains will sacrifice the world for their own gain, but masterminds will use both the heroes and villains to their own benefit. Why, you ask? Well, that's because I've lost my life once while trying to be a hero so, I don't want that anymore. I'd rather be a mastermind who molds the world as per my convenience and live peacefully. Because, why not? *** [Defender of Divine Glory says you are the hope of this world.] What? The story goes on. Maybe I went a bit too far, like when I made that one-time villain a professor. But he's a good guy now, just a little broken... and maybe possessed... or maybe he did massacre a village in the original novel. But, but that didn’t happen this time because I’m here. This time, he saved a lot of people, including me, and now he’s living a happy life. All because of me. So yes, I am a great person. Honestly, this story is more about him than just me. Oh, and there’s another guy too. Yeah, he’s a joy. The side character that everyone scorned is now a protagonist alongside me and the villain-turned-professor. So, we're all rejects and outcasts. His expression darkened, the amusement vanishing as quickly as it had appeared. “Who branded you with this mark?” he demanded, his voice cold and sharp. Atika’s heart pounded, fear and anger warring within her. She knew that revealing the name would bring death, but Virgil's patience was not infinite. She remained silent, her defiance a silent challenge. Virgil’s eyes narrowed, his grip tightening on her chin. “Answer me, kitten,” he growled, his voice a dangerous whisper. “Who dared to mark you as their property?” Tears welled in Atika’s eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She took a deep breath, her voice trembling as she finally spoke. “His name is Varek,” she said her voice barely a whisper. “He is the one who branded me.” Virgil’s expression grew darker, a deadly calm settling over him. He released her, turning away with a dangerous grace. “Varek,” he repeated, the name like poison on his lips. “He will pay for this.”

In the world, every book was more than just a collection of words. It was a vessel of latent energy, imbued with ancient knowledge and untapped potential, people could unlock special abilities by reading books but power depended on emotional and intellectual resonance of the person with the books he or she read. The more understanding you had about the books you read, the more stronger you get. The power could be gained after awakening a lexicon. Lexicons were leather-bound tome adorned with intricate golden filigree and strange symbols that shimmer in the light. The cover was worn, with cracks and creases etched into its surface like the lines on a wise elder's face. The lexicons were large measuring approximately 12 inches tall and 8 inches wide. The color of the leather binding was a deep, rich brown, while the pages within were soft, creamy yellow.  The first lexicon was said to have been made by an ancient order of mystics, who infused the book with their collective knowledge and power. Over the centuries, sorcerers created ritual techniques to create personal lexicons where people's knowledge gained through the books they read became their power. Slowly and steadily the personally created lexicons drew knowledge from the minds of its wielders and molded it into their power.  There were three types of lexicons; the ones that contained magical text, the ones that contained fictional text and the ones that contains non-fictional text and historic text. Among these three main types of lexicon there were rare lexicons which came with unique powers, world-altering powers. In spite of of all these books came the forbidden lexicons that were mostly not awakened but learnt. The forbidden lexicons were hated by societies and were banned from use of people. There were also limits and risks with use of awakened lexicons which was termed 'lexicon fracture'. It was experienced when people had mind breaks from wrong usage of their awakened lexicons. A remake of another novel I created. Kazuki Takumi Amagiri was always a kid with a troubling life, abusive parents, poverty, being bullied at school you know the usual sob story that probably goes in a documentary for the early life of a serial killer or something. Throughout his life he's always wondered if maybe the reason world hates him was because he had the audacity to exist. But through a series of events he met his best friend and was introduced to a series of games where he found his spark of resilience to carry on in life in a character named Markus one of the main antagonists of the book. And ten years later he's a university student, dormmates with his best friend and is just about to finish getting his degrees. He'd also just finished playing the third installment in a his favorite video game franchise All was going well in life, things were looking up until in one cruel twist it was over, no fanfare, no "going out with a bang", Kazuki's life just fizzled out like a candle in the wind. Curiously though, Kazuki's story was not over as he found himself in the body of "Markus" at the start of his story. How will this strangely ironic twist of fate change the world at large? And more importantly how will it change our main character?
