I am Cloud Gao, a Taoist practitioner and also the author of this novel. Ten years ago, the idea of writing this novel sprang into my mind. Over the past decade, while cultivating and seeking enlightenment through Taoist practices, I have continuously observed and sensed the world around me. My mind has been in a constant state of contemplation, with inspirations welling up ceaselessly, ultimately coalescing into this book. The novel depicts a bleak and terrifying dark wasteland world, a barren land decades after the outbreak of nuclear war. The once-thriving civilization has vanished without a trace, leaving only desolation and the passage of time. However, even in such a hopeless environment, there remains a surviving human group that clings to the last vestiges of human civilization.
