In Veiled Silence
The world of Remiel is a peaceful one. It has been so for a long time. Of course a few skirmishes here and there do occur, but these disputes are quickly settled and life goes back to normal.
One only needs to fear dark forests, high mountains, and back alleys where beasts and robbers dwell. From the Human Kings to the Elven Council, the Dwarven Magnate to the Ajin Consulate, all is ruled by law and order in each country's own way. All seem just. One can travel freely between kingdoms and everyone has an opportunity to become wealthy.
This... prosperity... is attributed to the Conclave which occured at the end of the Great War 300 years ago where all races signed a treaty meant to last through the centuries. So far, that treaty still stands.
One fate-filled night after the Festival of Light, 17-year-old Alec's life in this world is changed forever when he is told that he, and only he can keep the delicate balance that the races have worked so hard to maintain. How? How else but by opening what was closed, by taking back what was stolen, and restoring to his world and the races what was lost soon after the Conclave adjourned--the full power of Magic.
Can he do it? Will he succeed, even when faced with his past and while being hunted by those who would see him fail at any cost, the Asumati?
