ZARQA

Dive back in time, to the depths of the desert, and watch the old stories unfold before your eyes. A story of treasure hunting, betrayal, and destiny. When a gruesome future is all you see, how can you change it? When you're foretold to fail, how should you move on? Zarqa, the girl who saw beyond time, sought to find answers. -------------------------- Legend says that Zarqa had sharp eyes that could look far away in the distance. But what if that wasn’t the end of it, what if her eyes were seeing far beyond not only space, but time? What if Zarqa was blessed with a prophecy, one that could save her dying village from destruction? Just as they thought they had no way to survive, Zarqa learns of a way to protect her village from demolition. Naturally, no one believed her, for no one but the Almighty could see beyond the present. They forgot the Almighty offers knowledge to those whom he deems of worth. And Zarqa was one of them. Having to trudge an arduous path and go through a great adventure, Zarqa seeks to find the solution to all of their problems, a treasure said to have the power to change all. Pitted against magical traps and the mysteries of the deserts, she finds unexpected company in Ali Baba, the poor kid with the sticky fingers, and his crow Morjana... -------------------------- This is my first original long story here and is also a WSA 2024 Entry. Third person POV Chapter 1: Moonlight and Shadows Diana Black's eyes fluttered open, her heart racing as she gasped for air. She was drenched in sweat, her sheets tangled around her legs. It was just a dream, she told herself, trying to calm her racing thoughts. But the memory of the dream lingered, refusing to be shaken. In the dream, she was running, her feet pounding the earth as she desperately tried to escape. A figure loomed behind her, its presence dark and menacing. Diana's mind replayed the images, her senses still reeling from the fear that had gripped her. Who was the person chasing her? And why did she feel like she was being pulled toward them, despite the terror that filled her heart? As she sat up in bed, her eyes scanning the darkened room, Diana couldn't shake the feeling that the dream was more than just a product of her imagination. It felt like a warning, a message from her subconscious that something was coming, something that would change her life forever. She threw off the covers and got out of bed, padding over to the window to gaze out at the night. The moon cast its silvery glow over the city, illuminating the towering skyscrapers and casting long shadows across the streets. Diana felt a shiver run down her spine as she gazed out at the moonlit landscape. She loved the night, loved the way the shadows seemed to come alive in the darkness. But tonight, the shadows seemed to hold a sinister presence, as if they were watching her, waiting for her to make a move. With a sense of unease, Diana turned away from the window and began to get ready for her shift at the café. She tried to push the dream and its lingering fear to the back of her mind, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that the night held secrets and dangers that she couldn't even begin to imagine. As she grabbed her bag and headed out the door, Diana felt a sudden chill run down her spine. She spun around, but there was no one there. The hallway was empty, the only sound the creaking of the old building. Diana's heart was racing as she turned to leave, but her feet felt rooted to the spot. And then, she saw it. A piece of paper on the floor, with a message scrawled in red ink: "They're coming for you." Diana's blood ran cold as she stared at the message, her mind reeling with questions. Who was coming for her? And why?
