Apex: shards of a broken crown
Shinei Hassaikai was a special child born with a monstrous instinctual prowess for unarmed fighting which led to him becoming a legendary figure of adoration and fear amongst the common thugs and the denizens of the underworld. A fatal incident occurred during his middle school days which led to him and his parents moving out of the remote and isolated town they lived in to the Imperial Capital of the United San Magnolia Empire where the main branch of his family resided.
There, he anchored his roots once more and founded the legendary underworld gang comprised of members with big connections in the elite circles of society called Apex together with his childhood friend who was also his lover. Together, they blazed through the underworld ranks and by the time they reached their first year of high school, they had become so big and so strong that they were unrivalled even by the once predominant gangs of the city.
The power held by the two leaders of Apex was so great that greed, jealousy envy and treacherous thoughts began to fester amongst the members of Apex and the suppressed gangs eventually leading to an incident so large in scale that by the time morning came, the empire’s streets were awash with rivers of blood and dismembered corpses.
The balance of power of the underworld organizations irreversibly collapsed on that day and yet the leaders of Apex somehow managed to weather the storm coming out on top, however, they did come out unscathed. The second of the two leaders and her cohort mysteriously vanished without a trace during the conflict and most of the powerhouses of Apex became either crippled or narrowly avoided death only to remain in a vegetative state.
Left without much of a choice, Apex disbanded on that day and Shinei seeking a new start away from the pull of the underworld, transfers schools back to the isolated and remote town where he grew up. The peace and tranquility he sought became elusive when the past he sought to leave behind followed him to the isolated town. To make matters worse, gruesome murders and mysterious disappearances start to the haunt the town and when others sought to flee, they found themselves unable to do so barred by a supernatural barrier which also blocked the town residents from communicating with the outside world.
Can Shinei withstand the implications behind the truth of the mysterious disappearances and when the existence of the supernatural begins to gradually reveal itself, can he unlock the truths about the fatal incident which drove him out of the town in the first place and will it be enough to weather the approaching storm?
