The unicorns are being hunted. In a forest protected by elves, several human rangers, and a powerful druid, still they keep finding bloody pools clotted with entrails and the... remnants of unicorns. In a last ditch effort to track down the poachers and with an eye to spreading the protections that are supposed to be enjoyed in this special forest, the druid, and the elders of the elves make a bargain with a reclusive master mage, who also makes this forest his home, to create a new race of men. Combining elves, men, and wolfweres, they successfully bring forth a new breed of guardian.. Set in an unspecified world in the AD&D setting, this story is an exploration of the genesis of one of my favorite custom races that I played and ran in 2nd Ed D&D
