Eilis Lacey

Wolf Girl and the Children of the Moon

Native American Jessica Chavez just wants to be a normal teenager. But with her father the Chief of the local Ute tribe, this proves difficult. Then Dakota Ouray moves into town, and Jessica’s life is turned upside down... in more ways than she could imagine. Dakota is handsome and mysterious, but there’s also something different about him that she can’t quite place. There are murders happening in town, but only under the full moon. Jessica finds it strange, but quickly brushes it off... until she finds out the truth of her heritage. Soon, circumstances unfold and she discovers that the truth is more sinister than she thought. Can she and her pack stop this evil and save the town before it’s too late? *** “Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Michelle asked. I really must have looked bad for Michelle to be this concerned. “I can drive you home and my dad can follow us....” Michelle rambled on, but I could hardly hear what she was saying. The buzzing in my ears was now a roar, like a freight train running back and forth through my head from ear to ear. “I have to go, Michelle,” I said, pulling away from the curb, barely giving her time to close the door as I sped off. But I didn’t make it home. I made it as far as Granby Lake when the shaking was so uncontrollable that I had to pull over. I threw the car into park and the keys under the mat in the driver’s seat. My body was shaking and quivering as pain coursed throughout my body. I screamed, almost a howl, as I ran for the woods. I didn’t know why, but I had the sudden urge to run, to let the coolness of the evening air soothe my skin... to be free. My body shook uncontrollably as I ran faster than I had ever run before into the forest. The quivering ran from my hands and traveled throughout my body as I ran even faster, pushing harder, losing control of my body. What was happening to me? I screamed as I looked down to see my hands shimmering, changing into giant silver paws, but my screams ended in a howl as the quivering traveled down the length of my body, morphing and changing every cell. By instinct, I leapt into the air and my clothes shredded into pieces. I landed on four paws, running even faster. To where? I didn’t know. Was I going crazy? I looked around and nothing looked familiar. Where was I? “This can’t be happening to me!” I thought, sprinting through the forest into the Colorado Rockies, as variations of pine and aspen rushed pasted. If I were in my human form, I would have been crying. As it was, dampness seeped from my eyes, soaking the fur underneath. I was almost to Wyoming when I heard voices inside my mind. I am going crazy! I thought to myself, as my powerful claws dug into the lichen along the forest floor, propelling my body even faster. To where? I didn't know. *** *AUTHOR NOTE: Please also check out my other books now available on Webnovel! Stranded With A Billionaire: Serendipity's Kiss

Excerpt: Charlotte's head felt dizzy, and her vision blurred as she reached for the door frame to steady herself. She finally regained my balance and vision as she once again heard her best friend Lacey moaning her fiancé's name. She peaked through the cracked door to see him at his release before falling on top of her: Are you sure Charlotte isn't coming by? "I'm positive, I told her we shouldn't see each other at all until our wedding night. He said breathlessly before he continued: But I really only said it so you and I could be together before I'm ya know, a "kept man". They chuckled making her blood boil as they continued talking about her. She felt her body turn cold and her mouth water as the last thing she ate threatened to come up. She burst through the door and let out a yell: How could you! How could either one of you do this to me. She looked at Mark as tears started to well in her eyes: We were supposed to get married in two days. So you were what, going to promise to be faithful to me only two days after sleeping with another woman? Charlotte then turned toward Lacey, her face turning from sadness to anger as her cheeks turned red and her eyes narrowed into slits as her words came out low and calm: Lacey, I've known you since we were in fifth grade, I've loved you like a sister and you betrayed me. Lacey immediately started crying: Oh Charlotte I never wanted to hurt you, I'm so sorry it's just that I… Charlotte took a few steps closer clinching her fists as Lacey went silent and her lips pursed together: Not another word Lacey, I'm not interested in your excuses or your apologies, I don't want to see either one of you ever again. Charlotte turned to leave the house that she was supposed to start a life in when Mark jumped out of the bed and ran after her yelling: Charlotte wait, don't go, let me explain, please. She was devastated by the betrayal two of her favorite people. She jumped in her car, turned the key and drove off as fast as she could. Glancing in the mirror just in time to see Mark run out into the street as she sped away. DEAD BRIDE

As Grace hastened down the hallway, the lightbulbs flickered ominously, casting eerie shadows on the walls. She ignored the blood-curdling screams and unsettling pictures that hung like specters, their macabre presence seeming to watch her every move. Her mind was consumed by the disappearance of her fiancé, whom she hadn't seen or heard from since she woke up the previous day. Her friends, too, were nowhere to be found, and the few she had seen met a brutal end, their mutilated bodies a grim testament to the horrors within. What was meant to be her wedding day had transformed into a desperate fight for survival. Grace found herself trapped in her fiancé's house, with locked doors and windows covered in dust and iron bars, giving the place a foreboding, prison-like feel. She avoided gazing out the windows, fearful of what she might see. Every time she dared to look, a family of five stared back at her, their presence sending shivers down her spine. The family's attire seemed frozen in time, their outdated clothes tattered and worn. The parents, if they could be called that, looked inhuman, their decaying skin jagged and twisted. The husband, dressed in a long, dirty black caftan, appeared older than his wife, who wore a dirty lacey pink dress that seemed to be disintegrating. The three children were equally unsettling. A teenage girl, clad in a dirty tank top and faded jean short skirt, wore a pair of reading glasses and held a little girl with hair styled with dried twigs and leaves in a dirty loose pink unicorn onesie. The family's jagged teeth and tightly clasped hands only added to the sense of dread that settled in the pit of Grace's stomach. The final member of the family, a man in his thirties, wore a red polo shirt and blue jeans, appearing more vibrant than the rest of the family. However, his face was obscured by a black mask that covered his face and neck, shrouding his identity in mystery. Grace's frantic pace slowed as she entered the living room, her eyes scanning the walls adorned with ominous portraits and horrifying statues that seemed to leer at her. She shook her head in fear and disbelief, tears streaming down her face as she wondered what she had gotten herself into. As faint footsteps echoed from the hallway, Grace's hand instinctively cupped her mouth in shock and horror. She crawled across the marble floor, seeking refuge behind the cushions in the living room. The buzzing bulbs and flickering lights only heightened her fear, causing her to squeak in terror as she contemplated the unknown fate that awaited her, just like her friends.
