Flame of Youth and Fate
The story follows Tangsoi and Jongkoi, a happily married couple living in Pathso Village, Noklak, who are blessed with six children. Their peaceful family life changes dramatically with the birth of their first son, Khumo, a brave and legendary figure among the Khiamniungan tribe. Khumo's childhood is shaped by turmoil as enemies invade their village during a time when men are away harvesting crops. His mother bravely defends him against the attackers, narrowly saving his life. Tangsoi returns in time to rescue Khumo, reinforcing their family bond and determination.
Khumo grows up courageous and strong like his father. As the family expands, tragedy strikes: Pujei, the second son, is killed while trying to maintain peace between Pathso and Lengnyu villages. Kheyang, the third son, succumbs to illness. The fourth and fifth children, Langshe and Muthsoi, die young. The youngest, Pengchang, born in Lengnyu, embraces Christianity alongside his wife Sujang, abandoning old practices. However, Khumo remains steadfast in traditional ways.
This generational tale reflects resilience, family unity, bravery, and the transition of cultural beliefs amidst conflict and change.
