Mare: The mare does not refer to a female horse but to the mara demon who sits on a person’s chest and terrorizes them in their sleep. According to old Norse folklore, a Mara was an evil nocturnal demon of terror. The Night-hag or “riding witch” are other names for the Nightmare. Our story is about 4 Special Operations soldiers under the disbanded force MARE who decide to abandon their homeland of Chrome and defect to the neighboring country of Gasia with their former Captain and 5 other teams to protect the young princess from the hostile forces working in the shadows against her.
