Decietful Allure (Around the fireplace series)

The light of the fireplace cast long shadows on the wall, the fire reflected in the eyes of the woman sitting on the couch with a blanket over her shoulders. She had a bittersweet smile on her face as her mind traveled to the past days, nights long passed, nights she shared with her family when she was a kid. Memories she hoped to bring alive if possible. First story: a story adaptation of a popular folklore in Nigeria; The Princess and the half man; She had sworn on her mother's grave never to be blinded by emotions. But It'd seem she took after her mom in that aspect after all. Throwing all caution to the wind just for a man. She had thought she was different from the rest, leave it to reality to smack her back to her senses. Her feelings for her dad was complicated, she could say she hated him, but that was not quite true, no matter what, he was still her father. The one who pampers and gives in to her every whim. She knew it was partly guilt and the fact she was his only daughter out of a battalion of boys that contributed to his attitude towards her. But so what, she didn't care much for affection, all she had cared for was getting what she wanted, and that had been true about her, until now. Authors note: As a kid my dad will always sit us down at night, outside, in the darkness and tell us the most delightful stories of kingdoms long passed, Princesses and princes, magical creatures, much to the delight of us kids. But there's not much of that nowadays. So I want to share these delightful stories with everyone and I hope by doing this, these stories will not get lost in the sands of time. Thank you, have a nice read.

"Lupine"

"Not all people can be trusted... Not all intentions are good... And not all decisions are made for the benefit of all... They were all lies... It was all but a LIE." - Blue During the spread of a deadly virus, a search for a cure was badly needed... Desperately needed, since we are talking about a disease so rare, it turns people into zombies. FREAKs as they are so-called here. So, with desperate times come desperate measures; An Organization was established, a search party was created, and one SUBJECT became a crucial focus for finding a cure. Major Jay Cruz and his crew find this a mission worthy to die for, knowing it could save lives. But with their good intentions comes a bloody secret: THEY were all just BAIT to lure out the 'cure', which was later named the BLUE CURE. This cure, like the deadly virus, was so unusual it had to be a wild fantasy to develop into reality. Right? Well, that's what Major Cruz thought - until that one explosive incident happened. ..... As for Maxine Rose, she learned how to put up with the current new world; she aimed to thrive and survive. However, rather than being afraid of the undead, she found herself being more terrified of the unknown fear she had been feeling since her awakening.  So instead of staying 'HOME', she decided to run and hide - unfortunately, 'he' came. ..... As destiny was trying to connect two different lives in bringing the CURE that would save hundreds of millions of people from the undead, would this mean hope in ending Z-day for eternity? Or was it just a sick game of delusion that needed to end?

My Best Friend is a Hybrid

It’s the year 2073, and everything has changed. New high-tech dominates almost all aspects of life. However, this has a dark side: unethical human experiments. 17-year-old Akira Cruz, the genius nephew of the president of the Philippines, was in the middle of grieving for his late best friend when he stumbled upon an abandoned orphan boy in the mountains while on a hike with his younger sister. That boy is Hachi Shimizu, a half-zombie, half-vampire who was disposed of by an evil organization known as the Kara Tech, which was notorious for its brutal and unethical experiments. Together, the two boys team up with a detective named Toshi Kawasaki, a half-Japanese, half-British who specializes in the supernatural and also considers the murder case of Akira’s best friend open despite the police closing it due to a lack of evidence. The three of them believed that Kara Tech was somehow connected to the disappearances of various children in and around the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. As they go and solve cases, their friendship blossoms, especially when two people, Riho Yoshihara, Akira's childhood, biracial friend, and Htet Kawa, a half-Japanese, half-Burmese junior detective from Yokohama, come along in their various missions, both involving the supernatural and the overworld. Will they stop the organization from committing more heinous crimes before it’s too late? Warning: the photo used for the book cover is NOT mine! Credits go to the original owner!!!
