Sadly, these creatures, now strutting their stuff, seem to think humans are more of a nuisance than a treat. Imagine trying to explain to a dragon that you’re not a threat; it might be a tough sell after your last encounter involved a singed eyebrow. Enter our unlikely hero, or rather, anti-hero: Kael Ravencrest. These project is called the NEMESIS Project, and this ended in psychological conditioning, manipulation, and traumatizing in order to understand and control future ALPHAs. In a secret experiment facility, Subjects are subjected to psychological traumas and horrors, while the killers/monsters are set loose upon these people to condition and train them to become agents against their enemies, and also uncover the secrets on creating future ALPHAs. In the world of Euphoria, sword, magic and faith had dominated lives for centuries, ever since the catastrophic period commonly referred as The Joining nearly destroyed the world. Those born with magical abilities, strive to become a Magus and are highly sought after. Those talented in warfare, became Sword Masters and are the backbone of many kingdoms. Those touched by diety had elevated their own position immediately, since miracles and spells utilising faith are always in short supply. Every since The Joining, many monsters have crossed the boundaries of Euphoria. Whole knightly orders and wizard towers dedicated their lives in an attempt to eradicate monstrosities roaming this world. The question that many asked themselves was: What would happen if there was a group capable of using magic, even if at basic level, skilled in combat and had a patronage of a god? Many objected, seeing a future where their own position of power would be threatened and refused this offer. Although there were few pure and honest mages and knights. They gathered in secrecy, hiring trusted alchemists in an attempt to transmute a body, to create a blueprint perfect for their purpose. They prayed to various gods, old and new arrivals but there was only one Goddess that responded. Alchemists we're often dubbed by commoners and those of faith as witches. So they took it upon themselves to name their new creation, using the very same foul moniker to spite those that wronged them... (Warning this is an 18+ novel. There are heavy, adult themes in it. Lucain paused, staring at her bare shoulder. Kat followed his gaze and gasped. "What is that?" she asked, her voice trembling. On her shoulder was a strange mark, like a tattoo of a hoof print with foreign writing within it. Lucain hummed thoughtfully, his expression still impassive. 'As I thought, she shouldn't be able to see it, but she can. That's unusual for a human.' Kat frantically tried to wipe the mark off. "Why won't it come off?" "That's the Kelpie's mark," He pointed out, his tone remained indifferent. Panic surged through Kat. She hadn't just narrowly escaped death; it was now chasing her, bound to her by an invisible tether. "Is there any way to break the bond...mark whatever it is? I don't want to die," she asked desperately, her eyes searching Lucian's for any sign of hope. Lucian's expression stayed the same. "I don't intend to let you die so soon," he said. "We can replace the Kelpie's bond with another bond." Kat clung to this glimmer of hope. "How do we do that?" she asked, leaning forward, eager for a solution. "It requires a new bond, a stronger one that can override the Kelpie's," Lucian explained, his demeanor calm and composed.
