The Forgotten Ending

The Virtue Ending

“To be noble is to master the art of hiding one’s heart, to bury your emotions so deeply that even you forget they exist. Power belongs to those who can conceal their emotions behind an unyielding mask.” Lucien Marcellus, though still in the bloom of youth, embodied an unshakable sense of control—a mastery far beyond his years. His sharp gaze commanded fear, and his name carried a weight that left no room for disobedience. Servants trembled at his presence, and his friends, as ruthless as they were loyal, only strengthened his grip on those around him. Yet, Lucien was a man of detachment—an observer in a world he neither cared for nor sought to change. To him, life unfolded as it was meant to, a series of inconsequential events, none of which ever managed to spark his interest. He found no joy in company, no curiosity in the affairs of others, and no desire to disrupt the monotony. His world was neatly arranged, until the day his father returned home with a stranger. The boy, Noah, introduced as Lucien’s cousin, was young, quiet, and entirely unremarkable. The boy’s sudden appearance raised more questions than answers, especially since no one had known of his existence until that moment. Lucien, true to his nature, dismissed the development as yet another insignificant twist in his father’s unpredictable whims. Until he found a peculiar book, one whose cryptic words seemed to draw a connection to the boy. Against his better judgment, he began to notice the boy’s every move, every glance, every hesitation. For the first time in his carefully controlled existence, Lucien’s mask faltered.

Hello readers.  Before we embark on our journey to unveil the forgotten pasts, let's implement some rules. 1. Firstly, I am not a native English speaker; it is my third language. So, there will be some mistakes, or there may be more than some. Instead of criticizing me publicly, please message me in private, and I will do my utmost to revise them. 2. The story is of fantasy genre, so anything and everything is possible, meaning, we will be bending the rules of science past the limit. now, I have read some comments under many stories that say "This is not possible" or "how can this be?" My friends, fantasy is the genre that likes to go beyond science, to a world where anything is possible. Please be patient with me there. 3. If you have any queries about the story or any element of the story, I'll be happy to answer as long as it does not reveal the plot or any secret that should be revealed later. 4. This novel has two different world settings, one without any fantasy element, just like Earth. While the other one is a fantasy world with medieval settings. The main story takes place in the fantasy world but the protagonist keeps having memories that belong to the Earth-like world. 5.This strongly might have strong language not appropriate for children. There might also be scenes of violence so read it on your own accord. 6. Some chapters can be lengthy while others short depending on the scene. 7. I can only update twice or thrice a week maximum, so please be patient with me. Please enjoy the story and comment with your unique ideas.

It wasn't on purpose. When Maria stole a peculiar book from one of her classmates, she thought nothing of it since her classmate didn't seem too fond of reading; Maria thought she could get away with it, however, she never expected the book to hold such secrets. Maria never imagined that an old book series could lead to such catastrophes. Can a book with hundreds of pages stacked together— really be the sole reason for the end of humanity? Left with no other choice, Maria uses her knowledge from the books to navigate through the looming perils before her. With the desire to meet the beings that heralded the world's end and uncover the mysteries shrouding her books, Maria strove to survive and adapt to her new reality, even if it meant being tangled between life and death. In a world brimming with tales, akin to the multitude of stars gleaming in the nocturnal skies or the depths of the vast ocean yet to be explored, the story of searching for one's ending begins... * * * TL;DR: What to expect: -Slow Paced Story -Character Development  -A Fantasy, Post-Apocalyptic World -Mysteries! -Diverse Characters  -Family Conflict and Comradeship  -Sub-Plot Romance between Two Women -3.4k-3.8k Word Count per Chapter -Mistakes in grammar or prose since English is not my Native Language What NOT to expect: -Overpowered MC -Reverse Harem -LitRPG * * * Before reading this story, please note that this story will not be a short one. This story is inspired by many unlimited-flow Chinese novels I often read, Alice in Borderland, and my childhood favorite cartoon show, Adventure Time. Although this is my first time writing a story and may be an amateur, there would also be some terrible grammar, prose, and repetition of words since English is not my native language, I still hope that some of you will be able to enjoy reading this story I created during quarantine.  This story may also be slow in terms of updating, but I'll try my best to upload frequently or find a schedule to upload the chapters. I accept any form of criticism, tips, and advice!
