Adventurous Life in Magical World with slightly weird system ???
The void pressed in, an absolute absence of light and warmth. Alex's breath hitched, a phantom sensation in a space where air held no meaning.
"System!" His voice, a raw rasp, echoed into the nothingness. "What did you do this time?"
A faint, almost musical whistle pierced the silence. Then, a chirpy, infuriatingly casual tone.
"Oh, host! Hehehe... just a small mistake!"
Alex's anger flared, a burning ember in the frigid expanse. "A small mistake? We're adrift in the middle of nowhere! No stars, no planets, nothing! What kind of 'small mistake' leaves us like this?"
"Well," the System's voice, laced with a playful lilt, seemed to bounce off the non-existent walls, "apparently, the 'shortcut algorithm' wasn't as... robust as I initially calculated. And, uh... the 'dimensional coordinates' got a little... scrambled."
"Scrambled?!" Alex’s voice was a strained whisper, filled with a mixture of terror and rage. "Scrambled? We could be anywhere! Or nowhere! Is that a 'small mistake' to you?"
The System emitted a series of cheerful, almost manic whistles. "Look, look! No need to get all worked up! Think of it as an adventure! A surprise destination! You always said you wanted to explore the unknown!"
"The unknown, not the non-existent!" Alex retorted, his hands clenching into fists, though he felt no resistance against them. "Where are we? What's the status?"
A brief pause, then the System's voice returned, now tinged with a nervous tremor. "Well, uh... the 'status' is... we're currently experiencing a... 'localized spatial anomaly'. And, uh... the 'navigation systems' are... temporarily offline."
"Temporarily offline? What does that even mean?"
"It means..." The System's voice trailed off, followed by a series of rapid, high-pitched whistles. "It means... I need to, uh... recalibrate some... things. Yeah, recalibrate! I'll be right back! Just... take care! And... run off!"
Before Alex could respond, the System's presence seemed to vanish, leaving him alone in the suffocating darkness. The faint, almost mocking echo of the whistles faded into the absolute silence.
"Run off?" Alex repeated, his voice barely a whisper. "Run off where?"
He was alone, adrift in a void where up and down, left and right, held no meaning. A cold dread settled over him, a chilling certainty that he was utterly, irrevocably lost.
