THE BODY GUARD'S SECRET
PROLOGUE
I stood in the shadows, watching her. She was a vision of loveliness, her long blonde hair cascading down her back like a river of gold. Her bright blue eyes sparkled as she laughed, her full lips curving upwards in a radiant smile.
But I wasn't here to admire her beauty. I was here to protect her.
As a former CIA agent, I had seen my fair share of danger. But nothing could have prepared me for the assignment that lay ahead.
Ava Morales, the beautiful woman standing before me, was the daughter of a wealthy and influential businessman. And she was in grave danger.
A stalker had been threatening her for weeks, sending her creepy messages and gifts. The police were stumped, and Ava's father had hired me to keep her safe.
I had been watching her for days, studying her routine and her habits. I knew her favorite coffee shop, her favorite restaurant, and her favorite park. I knew the way she walked, the way she talked, and the way she laughed.
But despite all my knowledge, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something. That there was something more to Ava's story, something that I hadn't yet uncovered.
As I watched her, a shiver ran down my spine. I had a feeling that this assignment was going to be a lot more complicated than I had anticipated.
And I was right.
